Kovalev has a high workrate and he peppers his shots with plenty of malice, Hopkins loves come forward guys relying on power with low workrates as he cant fight a full 3minutes. He knows this and its why he ducked his mando and why you wont see BHop with Kovalev anytime soom as he would get KTFO or lose a lopsided decision.

As others have said, Hopkins only fights in very short spurts for the most part, while Kovalev works consistently and has power in both hands. I don't see the matchup being good at all for BHop. Stevenson is a way more favorable matchup, because Stevenson is basically a one-handed fighter. I don't think Hopkins really wants either guy though, and will probably try for Froch moving up in weight next, assuming Froch is able to win against Groves.

At 49 years old, Hopkins will get knocked out.

Kovalev would KTFO BErnard and send him into retirement. Kovalev should watch himself after the fight incase he gets arrested for beating up an OAP

No, Kovalev was Hopkins mandatory for the IBF title, but he went on to fight Cleverly instead.

Hopkins gets wrecked. He would probably beat him 10 years ago but not now.

I couldn't agree more. This guy is tailormade for Hopkins and would be taken apart. Hopkins loves guys like Kovalev, Hopkins would smother his power keep the fight on the inside and give him a lesson.

Hopkins always has problems with athletic fighters RJJ, Calzaghe,Taylor Dawson Pascal. Where have you been? Yet he takes apart slower come forward guys.:deal

Old Hopkins knows Kovalev would hurt him and wouldn't come within the same time zone as Kovalev, let alone get into the ring with him. Simply too old. However, younger version of Hopkins, i.e. Ward, would take Kovalev to school.

If Hopkins is gong to bother continuing with his career, the only fights that will make him any money are Froch, Ward, Kovalev and Stevenson.

The Ward fight will never happen for a multitude of reasons that are well-documented. The Froch fight is likely to happen if both Hopkins and Froch win their next fights and Ward can't get his management issues sorted in time. And I can't imagine Hopkins will avoid a Stevenson fight in Montreal backed by Showtime/Al Haymon money. That's a high-paying fight, and it's actually a more favourable stylistic match-up for Hopkins than the Dawson fight was.

Kovalev is a bit isolated right now unless he can negotiate his way out of the HBO contract for one fight. I highly doubt Hopkins fears Kovalev, and I'm also of the opinion that Kovalev has a style that rather suits Hopkins if Hopkins is at about the same level he's been for the past year.

If Hopkins could be coaxed into fighting the unprofitable Dawson - TWICE - I'm certain making the Stevenson fight won't be difficult, and if the opportunity presents itself, I'm even more certain that a fight with Kovalev can be made too.

Hopkins knows his limitations. He didn't want to fight Dawson because he knew Dawson was a bad matchup for him, no way in hell he gets into the ring with Kovalev.
