Martinez struggled with the first big middleweight he's fought, it wasn't Barkers skills (that are under rated) but his size that gave problems. Go figure.
And yet he beat Pavlik? Honestly i hope he takes on a big middleweight next time, so he can prove that it isn't the size
I enjoyed watching the Pavlik beatdown. But let's be real, Pavlik was a ruined drunk by that time. Anyway, I do agree that size was not Sergio's problem against Barker. A smart, technically sound, patient fighter was what forced him to dig a little deeper.
Bayless is a moron and his pac comments after the third fight proves he knows dick about boxing Martinez is a genius in the sense that he took a late start to boxing maneuvered his career very intelligently he also is unorthodox and very untextbook that said i think he is ripe for the fall he does tire he struggle a lot vs Barker and got in trouble vs Pavlik who was jabbing him dropped him came back on the cards and only got schooled once he suffered a massive cut
It wasn't the size, it's hard to look good against a guy with that guard. Conversely it's difficult to have that guard and look good offensively.
First of all, Martinez is not a great fighter, not even close. He is a bit awkward, very athletic and is a well conditioned southpaw. There's no one out ther at hisweight class that could give him a challenege because all the other guys are bums! Move up Martinez and create your own challenges instead of trying to pick on smll guys.
