From Argentina, Yes. All-time as in Hagler/Monzon type discussions, Ask in classic see what they say.
not sure really. Started really late. A lot of decent wins. Big wins against Williams Pavlik and Chavez. A lot epends on what chavez does next as to whether that's considered a great win. And williams and pavlik. Are they HOF's? I think needs to do quite a bit more
I think he should be In, If he goes up to fight and win Against Andre Ward and against good Super Middle weight fighters.
Although i find it hard to say personally. I've been into boxing for about 7 years now on a hardcore level. Before that i had 10 years of just watchin lewis or Tyson fights. So i think unless you lived few a few era's of fighters and know fighters that were great in there time, but never made HOF or are discussed in ATG discusssion. Its always hard to answer these questions. Will people talk about Miguel Cotto, Paul Williams, Kelly Pavlik, Carl Froch, Kessler in 20 years time. The fighters that are great but not elite.
Starting boxing so late, I think he's at a disadvantage vs guys who began their professional careers 5 or so years earlier... However the fact that he's accomplished some nice things, reached a universally recognized top 5 P4P status at his age, lineal champ in two weight classes...etc...it all may be enough to get him into the HOF...he's more deserving than some who may get in But as far as ATG...I just think he's had the disadvantage of time and really coming into his own late in his career to have the longevity or impossible wins in his prime to show that...he probably could have been... I think it would take the: Mayweather, undefeated Canelo, unifying 160lbs, Ward victory type of effort to approach that.. Unfortunately for him, 160 isn't stacked with guys that will give him any argument for ATG status. Those guys exist south and north. He won't get much credit for wins south unless it's a growing and prime Canelo at 154 or out skilling (not knocking out based on size and power) Mayweather Jr. North would be more difficult due to the size and style of Ward. But think Martinez is one of the few fighters who could hang with Ward. At the Martinez/Ward P4P level, Ward is the only guy people would give Martinez a pass at beating. If Martinez moved up to beat Bute, Froch, Abraham, Kessler...it would only be looked at in the same vein as Pacquiao's wins over Clottey, Mosley and Margarito...busy, winnable wins before the REAL fight vs Mayweather...in Martinez's case, the REAL fight vs Ward At 37 years old, I think he's more in the position of having a couple big wins vs a smaller fighter with a big name/following (Floyd, Pacman, Canelo)...OR moving up for a big win vs a 168lb fighter in a close fight to capture a title in his 3rd weight class... However, I think age is against him to take the "dominate" a weight class vs the top 10 for years approach...even if it's with a less talented, less proven 160lb top 10.
He'd be elite in any middleweight division in history. I think it's fair that we'd talk about him in 10 or 20 years as 'one of the greats' concerning MW. He hasn't really done enough to warrant overall ATG status, even though the term is very subjective. He'd need to go up to 168 and kick some ass for that.
