Is Sergio in the right to demand Pacquaio/Mayweather to fight him at 154+ when he would not contemplate going up in weight to face legit competition?

no. he should move up in weight for challengers cause thats what great fighters do. he doesnt impress me by calling out 2 guys who r small at 147

I answered this in the other thread so I'll just paste my reply from there here too:

I used to feel sorry that Martinez wasn't able to land the big fight...emphasize USED TO...but back then he was a class guy...Now, he's been trying to put on some "bad guy, big-talking act" trashing other fighters, baiting and badmouthing them constantly even going so far as to have some moronic "reality tv show". None of the mentioned fighters he talks about and others like Cotto are obligated to give him that big payday, especially the others who at 147.

Martinez himself won't even fight some other 160 pounders or think of moving up, so none of those others have to either. He put himself in a box. He brings nothing with him except the Middleweight Title. He has absolutely no fanbase, along with that doesn't bring in big money. He's only known nowadays by some of the hardcore fight fans. His showings in AC were putrid by ticket sales. His time could run out at anytime at 35-36 yrs old, so while you could sympathize, this act he's got of talking trash about other fighters doesn't really help that. The second he loses, no one will give a damn about him any longer.

Both Mayweather and Pacquiao fought in the 154lb weight division, so yes he has a right.

There's also no challenges at 147 other than themselves.

Good points PG. Sergio could learn a thing or 2 from Pacquaio on being a class act and fighting bigger men.

I don't see him barking for fights with Pirog, Geale, Sturm-Macklin winner, Stieglitz, Sartison or anyone else at 168.

I've been saying this for a long time but I think beating Carl Froch (if he wins the Super Six) would be Sergio's biggest triumph.

understand his plight, but kind of hard to criticize Welterweights for not fighting you.

Also, Freddy Roach can shut his pie hole about having a 150 lbs catchweight. That's bull****.

Funny thing is I really rate Bute high (even though most ESBers here say he's overrated, he's fought nothing but bums, etc), and I think Ward is a hell of a boxer. They are a bit bigger than Martinez, but I seriously think Martinez lights them up. :yep
I don't really think Ward has enough power to keep Martinez from exploding on him constantly, and Bute does have enough power and good movement, but I don't think Bute gets the opportunity to hit Martinez with any big bombs. If these fights took place tomorrow, some may think I'm crazy, but I'm picking Martinez. Honestly any of the other fighters at 168 (AA, Froch, Johnson, etc) I wouldn't bet against Martinez either. Unless they can catch him, and knock him out cold...I don't think they can win a decision against him.
