Is Sergio Right to criticize Pacquaio/Mayweather for not fighting him?

No. Sergio needs to shut up, eat well, then fight the Super 6 leftovers.

 

He's not really right to criticize them, but I don't blame him for it since it's his way of making them step up and I think he may understand that also.

Yes Pac and Floyd won a title at 154, but it's not like they even made weight and defended the title. They could both say that they went to 154 once to get a title and test the waters and didn't like how they felt up there and don't want to go there again for a while.

Now if they defended the title multiple times or plan on going to 154 soon, then I'd feel more for Sergio.


Also Cotto needs to step up and fight Sergio if he's willing to come down low enough

 

Yeah, an obvious hypocrisy Martinez has himself in. He barks at people who originated below featherweight yet he himself do not want to fight at 168 when he has weight 170!!

He has the right to make money but do it like PBF and Pac has done, earn it. Both have benefited from ODLH fights. PBF had a hardcore base before that fight. Even though he was a favorite over ODLH he has taken it himself to maintain a level of relevance though his fighting style has limited mass appeal.
Pac had the same hardcore base before ODLH but just needed a break to showcase his fan friendly fighting style.

Both TOOK risks getting the fight to ODLH.

Martinez needs to take on one more risk.

 

No, they're welterweights. He's a middleweight. If he wants a big payday, his most realistic option is to move 8 pounds north, not force Floyd and Manny to come up 13 pounds.

 

Same way Manny and Floyd has achieved so much more than Sergio. He should be looking down to fight the welters.

Yeah, Bute could definitely land, but I dunno about landing bombs, and those vicious body shots with no return fire from Martinez. Bute has fought a lot of guys that walk in to him (easy to hurt somebody who's blindly walking in), fighters with so so defense, aggressive fighters, etc. Easy for him to counter, and smash them.
Martinez as he proved in his last fight is more than just a counter puncher, he can get that jab going, throw a lot of punches, and still counter. I think he gets a UD over Bute minus if Bute doesn't land a few giant shots and puts Martinez out. Pavlik is so one dimensional but can hit, and he couldn't really hurt Martinez so I'm doubting Bute KOs him.
Ward has had a lot of the same kind of opponents. Nobody with athleticm comparable to himself.

 

Basically he's a middleweight criticising a small undersized welter (Pac) and a welter who would be a small JMW (Mayweather) for not fighting him. It's absurd really, only reason people defend him on it is due to the great hate for Mayweather and Pac

 

Sergio doesn't have the right to demand a 147 fighter to fight him at 154. He either goes to where they are or STFU.

He, however, can ask (not demand) since one of those 2 said that he would be intertested in the winner between him and P. Will.

The same person also said this, “From 154 on down I tear everyone’s ass up.”

Since they have both fought and won belts above 150 before, and his latest interview has him give 150 as his minimum possible weight, then yes, it's fair criticism.

 

If I was in his shoes, I would want the money that comes with a Pac/Mayweather fight too. That's all there is to it, he simply wants big money, which he won't get fighting anyone else from 147-160. If he moved up to SMW he could have a pretty big money fight, but nothing compared to a Pac/Mayweather showdown.

 

Moving up and down in weight is one of the hardest things a fighter can do while in training. Sergio knows that if by any chance, either Floyd or Pacquiao, really want to prove their skills then the fights would have to happen before the moves up in weight again. There are reasonable fighters at SMW and maybe even MW, but Sergio isn't getting any younger and it's obvious that he would ask for the P4P fighters while he can still make weight.

 

Martinez is dead wrong. This guy comes to the ring at 170 pounds, and wants to fight guys who aren't even true welterweights. This is especially disgusting when you consider the fact that Martinez won't even talk about rematching Pavlik above 160. This guy is a hypocritical clown who enjoys a reputation he does not deserve.
