Is Sergio the next Great White hope even if hes latino??

Its funny because people thing that if you speak Spanish as a 1st language, you are not white, when it was actually the Spaniards and Portuguese that first came to America and were recognized as white men. The actual non white people in the Americas originally spoke their own languages and had never even learned Spanish till whites introduced it. Personally, I dont think anyone is "white" or "non-white" can be accurately defined. Its a tool peope use to point out each other differences and alienate each other. Its also getting worse in this country (US) and it sad.

 

Danny lil red Lopez was real popular in the 70s and 80s to latinos and whites. He was a conservative classy guy. I think it also has something to do with the times or world events too. Like Khan for example is a British hope and represents his countrymen as well as his heritage and his personality reflects on his race because most people tend to generalize as there are tensions in the middle east. I dont think Sergio would be considered a GWH because then we would have to label many of the fighters coming in from eastern Europe GWHs too as would be the Klits. Its true there many latinos, europeans, etc maybe even fairer complexion that American whites, but they need to be from USA to begin with. If you had an Italian American like Joe Mesi or a really white Mexican American that looks like Canelo Id consider them a GWH

 

Umm, I think there are enough real white champs out there these days that 1) fringe nationalistic fighters like Bute need not be considered, and 2) a great white hope isn't needed because there's no shortage of good white fighters. Call him the great Romanian/Canadian hope if you must. I could go with that. Personally, I couldn't give two shits about his heredity.

 

As far as I remember with my encounters with Argentinians, they consider themselves white. And you can't blame them, most of their demographics are based on immigration from Europe, so you could also say that Argentina is South America's Europe.

Americans have such a blinkered view of things seeing everything only with their own insular perspective,you judge everything and everyone as if its all from your own country.This Latin and White tagging and seperation is an American value and cultural trait.A latino is a north American word meaning an American citizen from a Latin country,poeple from Spanish speaking countries living elsewhere are not Latino.lol.
