is sexy sergio over rated?

I like him but yes he is overrated


He defeated two so overestimated fighter that i just could not imagine how boxer could be more overstated.I meanof course drunk Pavlik and Williams, who is now exposed but was considered as a P4P star.

And i am in strong oposition towards Martinez fights with Pacman or Floyd.he is to big for them, Boxing authortiies in the past established weight categories so we should respect their smart move.
Maybe Martinez would like to face Ward??

I agree. I think Sergio is very over rated. He lost in a close fight to Paul Williams who is very flawed (totally dismantled by Quintana and Lara) and beat a past his best Kelly Pavlik. He gets way too much praise and i think this is 'follow the crowd' mentality.

Like the OP said he is the best fighter at 154-160 but he should have to have bigger wins to get in the P4P joke rankings

 

indeed. his claim to fame was beating williams and pavlik and now he is number 3 on the point for pound list??? step up to the big boys sergio...ward, abraham, bute, kessler, dirrell all await you a division up.

 

Ward is much better than sergio and more accomplished. I dont think Sergio would dare get in the ring with Ward he is calling out guys two weight classes smaller

Very overrated. Decent fighter , in a ok division . People matching him up with Mayweather and Pacquiao just because he's big. Otherwise he's not in their class.

 

Sexy Sergio benefited from Paul Williams being overrated. Remember that before Williams-Martinez 1, Williams was rated as high as P4P#3 by the Ring. Before Williams-Martinez 1, Martinez was not in the top 20 or perhaps even in any top 30 P4P lists. That SD with Williams got him into top 10 or close to top 10 from nowhere. In short, blame it on Williams' overrated ranking in the P4P.

Recently is the operative word. A person achieves P4P status because of current accomplishments, not career-long accomplishments (that counts towards HOF status). A boxer could spend the first five years of his career beating people with a combined 0-176 record, but if he suddenly beats five dominant champions by KO in a row in the span of 18 months, he deserves P4P status because nobody else has done that.

Now if he retires immediately after that, he probably shouldn't qualify for the HOF because he needs more than five great wins to justify entry.

IMO - Sergio deserves to be P4P #3, but I don't think he has a HOF resume yet.
