He looks to be elite & pretty complete,
Wether he has a chin we don’t know, because he is defensively safe & sound.

have to see just how good his chin is when he steps it up- if the other guys even fight him.
They might all conveniently decide to move up.

Shakur is the best fighter in boxing and the best since Mayweather. The sooner you come around to this, the easier it'll be for you.

    Yoshino was a 25-1 underdog
This is garbage joke fight that shouldn't be on TV, it tells us nothing

Frankly, I think Stevenson doesn't look great at 135lbs. He's heavier and less fluid than the guy that beat Valdez and Herring at 130lbs.

His defense has never been his ability to slip, roll or dodge punches. His defense has always been his legs.

He looked OK countering a 25-1 underdog last night, but honestly I didn't think he was that sharp in his counters against someone so hopeless.

I think Loma beats him pretty soundly. Haney is a little closer, but he is too big, long and twitchy for Shakur at 135.

I legitimately can't tell whether this guy is intentionally trolling, or just very limited on the number of greats he's seen.

Shakur has the best defense in boxing RIGHT NOW.

    All time? Stop it!

I think he's getting just a touch overstated on here -- Haney would give him all he wanted -- but I love watching him fight. Someone else mentioned it above, but he I do hope he grows into the weight a little better. He had a little bit of an ODLH at 160 thing going last night. Not as bad as that but I think he can be reshaped.

But he's among the most talented fighters in the sport already and is getting more and more experience. Same with Haney. Tank is the one who I wonder if he has plateaued. Guess we'll find out soon lol....

All of these Mayweather comparisons are accurate on one front, he is a trashy classless human.

He is damn good though, but if we are going to start having those talks and those comparisons the guy needs to step up the competition already.

    Scraped by 8 rounds to 4 ??
After returning from the military exactly 8 weeks before that fight no less

Jamaine Ortiz is exactly who Stevenson should have fought last night, not a 25-1 dog. Ortiz was leagues better than this guy.

but point stands - there is nothing dynamic about Stevenson. Pot shots, one at a time without power. Defense is purely step back out of range, but I think those heavy feet at 135lbs are compromising that now.
Good speed but it is no longer elite speed at 135lbs.

That fight was close. Some people thought Ortiz beat him I didn't I thought loma won close. That was Shakurs first fight at 135 you acting like he was a no hoper he ain't hes beaten good fighters. The odds were so great because Shakur is the truth and anyone who knows boxing and isn't a hater already knows this. Stevenson doesn't move as much because he doesn't need to but you're kidding yourself if you think he can't move anymore. Shakur is as a complete fighter as you will see in boxing today and if be fights loma you will see this first hand.

You know damn well if Loma beat Yoshino and Shakur beat Ortiz @DonnyMo aka Eric the midget would he talking about how Ortiz is a bum and talking about the guys Yoshino beat which is far more impressive than Ortiz.

Nakatani wasn't the same Nakatani after the horrific beating Loma gave him. If a beating like that isn't going to take a lot out of you then nothing is. Only the victims of other fighters are diminished by losses even though Loma can destroy you mentally and make you quit while he's still in first or second gear, let alone physically by hitting you at will and administering a sadistic beating like that

And even then Nakatani was boxing Yoshino's ears off prior to his dumb ass opting to stay on the ropes and trade with him after being hurt which he did a number of times IIRC

Loma v Ortiz was competitive, but it wasn't close.
4 rounds to 4 through 8 and then Loma blanked him in the championship rounds
Stevenson doesn't move because he doesn't need to? Could be...but he'd be the first 26yr old in history to implement that mentality. Mayweather himself turned that corner at 35yrs old. However, with Mayweather his defense wasn't solely his movement, with Stevenson it is.
He's far, far from complete. Frank Martin's skillset is much more complete.

Yoshino, respectfully, is hot garbage. As Serge said above, he got boxed up by the shell of Nakatani before slugging that ghost out. He's no beast. Not durable, not athletic, unimpressive measurable and very raw skill. He has a decent punch but far from being dangerous.

Top fighters at 135 making their name of more Yoshi's than Mario Cart. :cool1:
I really like Shakur's complete style but as far as who the :number_one: is in the division, we really don't know yet. Too many elite looking fighters that have to settle it in the ring. I think that Haney is a tougher fight & style for Loma because of the jab and elite fast footwork them Stevenson who has heavier feet that he like to be set. We shall, see too many good possible fights.
