Hurrah, hurrah, Shane dared to be great...Key word "DARED". Now I'm not saying he is or isn't but if he is ATGREAT then so is Vargas, Mayorga, Rahman, and others.
But you have to admit that the guys you mentioned had "1 shining moment" in the sport, where as Shane, while not having the GREATEST competition at 135 did dominate the division and is a H2H monster at the weight. I'm not even the biggest Shane fan, but I'll give him his due. Ironically I voted NO in the poll.:yep
Okay. Yes, Shane was a monster at 135. he beat some solid comp that had already been beaten but never the less he beat them. The guys I mentioned had one or more than one shining moment. Vargas was more impressive in his losses than Mosley was in his for whoever brought that up. Was Shane a great LW? Yes. The greatest? No. ATG perhaps an argument can be made.
Shane holds the two wins over Oscar, one of them controversial, both of them very close. Aside from that, Oscar's resume is far better.
atsch Another poster exposes himself yet again with his ignorant comments showing his lack of knowledge of this sport.
The Fishnet gets quite a bit of flack for beating Trinidad's leftovers. The majority would agree than in reality, the Fishnet got the better of it head-to-head despite what the judges said, right? Well, a similar comparison can be made for the Fishnet and Shane. Shane got the better of it head to head (although I consider the rematch tainted due to Shane's roid use). Mosley beat quite a few leftovers of the Fishnet. Leija, Molina, Rivera, Vargas (a leftover of a Tito leftover ). Shane may have the head-to-head edge, but Oscar is the greater fighter.
Great fighter, definite HOF but not sure about ATG. Possibly top 90. Funny though that I rate Kostya an ATG yet unsure of Shane and Shane does have the better resume...
Definitely a HOFer. One of the top 135er to fight. And a three division world champ. I can see him around 80-100 ATG.
Top 90 of all time? And not an ATG? Don't these claims contradict each other? I'd guess he's around 180 but I consider him great...
