Is Shane Mosley An Over Rated Lightweight? Valid Reasoning For Answers PLS!

those guys wernt around then. did you think shane could beat any of those guys? he could have po9ssibly fought floyd but shane was older and getting ready to move to ww by the time those talks came up

 

i think mosley would have beaten duran at lightweight.

why is duran put on this untouchable pedestal at lightweight. :huh

 

He was untouchable at his time at lightweight he was the undisputed lightweight champion for a while hes up there because he was the lineal champ at lightweight and beat some future and former champions at that weight class so I think thats why hes up there but i think julio cesar chavez and alexis arguello could prolly beat him at lightweight

 

His resume is overrated but his skills were not. He was a much more complete fighter at 135 than he was at 147.

 

If he's being ranked from 3-10, then yes, he's being overrated. His resume was rather weak and he didn't defeat the guys seen as the other top lightweights.

He'd be a handful though for many lightweights in history. Not only was he extremely talented, but also bigger than almost all the lightweights in history.

 

If anything, a lack of competition at 135 leads Mosley to be underrated at that weight rather than overrated, becaues he never got the chance to show the world how good he really was. I think he would have beat Oscar at 135 worse than at 147.

Who are the potential challengers around Mosley's time frame thta he didn't fight at 135? Popo, Floyd, Casa, Corrales, Castillo?

I think he beats all those guys at 135, with more KOs than decisions. Imagine if he had done that how highly rated he would be... Mosley didn't make those fights and therefore I believe he is underrated at that weight

Actually those fighters you've mentioned did'nt come to their own at lightweight till Shane was a fixture in the welterweight division.

To answer the thread starters question no I don't think he is overrated at lightweight because most don't give him his due for what he did at that weight anyway. Because of his size,power,speed I think he is a head to head monster at lightweight and would easily choose him over the likes of Chavez,Castillo,Corrales,Casamayor, Esteban DeJesus.

And Shane was ducked by the belt holders at lightweight like Cesar Bazan,Stevie Johnston. So even if he wanted to prove his mettle at lightweight he would have had a hard time doing so because that weak era of the lightweight division that Shane fought in wanted no parts him.

i'm not saying duran isn't great. :nonobut some of his competition at lightweight was very forgettable.

Thats why i said around, not at. I'm saying if he had stayed as a lightweight, or come around a few years later, he probably could have beat all those guys and would have had the chance to prove his quality

 

mosley has always been good against pressure.

shane can tough it out and is faster than duran.
