Well, he's never had much success against fighters with a jab and wheels which is why I didn't understand the matchup. He also always appears gassed by the mid rounds because of a nasal blockage he's endured for years...watch the Cotto fight from a couple years ago and you'll see what I mean.
In short, Shave still has something left in the tank(remember that he still collaborates with B-Hop) but I think he'd benefit greatly from being a tad more selective with his future matchups. The problem with this, of course, is that this sort of "cherry picking" goes against everything Shane's about and what makes him so popular among hard core fans.

He's not fading, he's faded. He's like post retirement DLH (post Hopkins). Good against plodders but he can't let go of his hands any more. He can't take initiative to close the gap with his speed like he used to do. He waits for the other fighter to go first. DLH did the same **** at the end. Both fighters were still good for the brawl but for competitive boxing matches against high skilled boxers their days are done.

:deal Although I would add Shane is probably more faded now than DLH was at the end, just because of the age alone, I hope he hangs it up soon, he is gonna get embarrassed by a C-Class fighter if he continues IMO.

:patsch Before Shane got old no one with just "a jab in wheels" bothered him, he only lost to bigger men, you could see him getting old against Cotto. Next year he will be 40 next year, he is DONE as an elite fighter, yes he can be selective and look good against certain fighters but as soon as he fights someone elite he will get beaten badly, really how many near 40 yr old former LW or WWs have been any good? Shane is old and over the hill.

:patschOk, it's common knowledge that Shane has always struggled with great jabs...even in his prime. Bigger or smaller doesn't really matter since he has always sparred with much bigger guys and has had relative success against bigger fighters at 147 and 154.

Next, I thought Shane looked great against Cotto. Remember that it took the best performance of Cotto's career(at his absolute peak) to win the narrowest of decisions and many still believe Shane won the fight anyway. My point is that Shane isn't that much different from the guy who took it to Cotto and Margarito...his problem is , always has been and always will be, that he will fight literally anyone. This approach keeps fans happy but is also wrought with danger at every turn.

Shane is absolutely NOT shot but he MUST be more selective with his upcoming matchups if he wants to remain a viable contender instead of a side show.

Word....and Cotto started that fight with an exceptionally good jab against Sugar Shane.:yep

Also, Shane took a few rounds to adjust to the "FAST' accurate jab Cotto came out with, but Shane came on strong as a mother ****er in the last half of the fight and we even saw Cotto on the serious back peddal for real for one of the first times by the last few rounds.

Shane still a bad mo' fo.:deal
