I think it's a hard call. Mosely had the speed and swiftness to make it a fight/win. You could make a case for both fighters.
I dont think Tito was as good with his jab as Forrest or Wright were, but he did possess the physical attributes that troubled Mosley. Tito also punched very hard, and Mosley was susceptible to mixing it up with everyone. Mosley would be competitive not denying that, but if I was a betting man after what I saw against Wright and Forrest I would have picked Tito.
Many would be wrong .... Obviously just another Leonard hater who cant see his genius atsch Posters like you get boring, just like posters who say 'Dempsey was one dimensional', 'Ali never threw a body shot, how can he be the greatest', 'Greb isnt on film, how can he be judged', yadda, yadda, yadda ..... Come up with all the bull**** cliches you want, Sugar Ray Leonard was a brilliant fighter, and anybody who doubts it knows nothing about boxing, thats a fact .... As for Mosley, hes a brilliant fighter with longevity who has had some fantastic wins and some disappointing losses, he uses the 'Sugar' tag for a nickname to make him more marketable, its not that important .. Hes a great fighter but not as good as Robinson or Leonard, not as adaptable to different styles as Robinson or Leonard, i think that is the critical point ..
Whats your ****ing problem? Did I say I was a Leonard hater? no, I merely pointed out that some people, not me I might add, would argue that only Ray Robinson deserves the name Sugar. Its called playing Devils Advocate, look it up some time
If you're just talking about the three big sugars, I think they go in order downhill, earliest to latest. Robinson, Leonard, then Mosley. But yeah, he hasn't done the name wrong, all in all-my opinion. There's a blemish with a performance enhancing substance but ultimately I'm not sure it makes a big difference giving him the benefit of the doubt about his testimony.
if it wasnt for shane mosleys balls, we would not be giving forrest and wright the great credit they todays. lets not forget how underatted these guys were before they foughts shane i say he deserves the nickname because he was sweet to boxing fans
Robby was reportedly cool with SRL sharing his nickname. It surprises me that no prominent boxer has been nicknamed "Sting Ray" yet. What other nickname fits the first name Shane besides Sugar though? As for Robinson, how about: Wallopin' Walker Smith?
Infuriated with the way his match with SRL was stopped when he had it sewn up on the scorecards (immediately after Ray missed five punches), Kevin Howard's enraged camp charged Leonard with fighting, "like a ******!" Gay Ray Leonard?:gayfight
Yes I believe Shane is worthy of the Sugar moniker, he has fought the best in his career and has won most of them and lost just a few. Is Carlos DeLeon and Ultiminio Ramos worthy of the Sugar name?
