Im a huge Mosley fan love his willingness to fight the best as he has once again demonstrated by fighting Margarito, But in the Mayorga fight Shane looked old in there his speed aint what it once was and he struggled with Mayorga wheras 5 years ago he would have made easy work of him so is Shane shot?
hard to tell - i think we will kno after Saturday where Shane is at. I think Shane struggled a bit with Mayorga's style. Margo is relatively straight forward. I think we'll see how much Shane's skills have deteriorated with how he handles him.
I believe "shot" is an abused term used in boxing. As you age, your body compensates for other things. Thus, he can't be what he used to be but may be better in a different area. There are some intangibles Shane still has; 1. His willingness to fight ANYONE (as you stated) 2. He is a boxer puncher who FIGHTS forward. 3. Shane will not regress to back pedaling when in danger. 4. Since the Forrest fight, he has not been hurt. 5. Holds power in both hands. (Thoroughly shown in the Mayorga fight, a man Forrest and many others could not knock out) 6. His love for the sport. He is supposed to become slower, succumb to cuts easier and lose stamina. If we stayed at our peak forever, then what would a peak mean?
I knew Mosely was finished when he let Cotto outbox him to in my eyes a clear decision. It was cemented when IMO he needed a KO to beat Mayorga & even tho he got the last second KO, Mayorga is a terrible excuse for a boxer & would have been ***** slapped by a prime Mosely. If Mosely isnt shot, then he`s as past prime as can be without being shot, thats my view anyway.
Mosley is done. The roids and weight hopping had an effect on his carrer. A very good carrer but it is over. I wish he would have retired right after the Mayorga fight.
to me he is still around the top15 p4p. not shot at all. But in his prime he was even better. I'd say if 10 is his prime, and 1 is shot. Then someone like Roy Jones is about a 2.5, and Shane is about a 7.5
Not shot, just old and can't do what he used to do. He can still beat alot of guys, he is just no longer the best of the best.
Nah. Just badly faded on recent evidence, but remember that was at 154 against a big awkward guy. Too many variables there to make a snapshot judgment. Now he's at 147 again. Against a better fighter, but perhaps a more orthodox one. If he gets KO'd he should retire because that **** should not happen, if he puts on a competitive fight win or lose, we can say he's probably only faded and not shot. I've no doubt prime Mosley would beat him.
He's getting close to it. He's at the point where he probably shouldn't be fighting the elite guys and killers in the ring. If Shane wanted to do a little farewell tour taking on C fighters and cans, that would be fine. Watching how he struggled and sometimes how spent he looked with a past prime, (albeit unusually focused and in shape) Mayorga has convinced me that Shane is going to need to pack it up, and soon.
