Calling him a gatekeeper is quite the insult - Porter is a two time world champion and only defeats were to Brook, Thurman and Spence, all close fights.
Spence was unable to prove himself as better. He def way better than a gatekeeper. My god that's ridiculous.
Porter isn't the best technician and looks like a caveman in there. He will probably beat a lot of guys just based on his aggressiveness and all-out style. I rate him as an A- fighter who is teetering on the cusp of B+ stardom if he suffers another loss in the near future.
Yes. Porter fights everyone he can and doesn't do a bunch of sucker ducking and complaining when he loses. Porter is a throwback fighter and I believe that PBC is preventing him from fighting Crawford and Spence honestly. He lost that 0 long ago and he always comes to fight. If a excuse making Soviet **** shoveler like Lomochenko can be compared to the great for beating no one in particular then Porter is way beyond him in my opinion.
basically this. He's way better than I was willing to admit. He's a hard work night for any welterweight in the world, and a sure defeat for any "just-good" welter. I consider him elite tbh. An ugly elite, but elite. Porter in your CV means a freaking lot. edit: and I agree with the other people here, if you want to fight him you only have to ask for it. He fights anyone. Not a very common thing nowadays, tbh.
And Julio Diaz. Though officially a draw. Porter is the loosest term of elite for me, but I’d rate him elite.
