He’s just not as marketable as the guys he loses to. If he were, he would easily get the decisions

Not imo, relative to top 10 global fighters.

But still, a very, very good, solid warrior.

More importantly though, seems like an awesome human being.

Possible, but you dont get the decision when you are knocked down in a close fight.

    A- level.
He's a two time titlist, his losses were only to the most elite guys and those losses were all super competitive. That ain't B level. If anything, he's the WW division's truth serum and "King Maker"

Yes porter losing to all of the top 147 pounders is much more impressive than Crawford unifying 140 and then steamrolling the then wba champion of the world Jeff horn coming off a win against Pacquiao in his first fight at the weight and then the multiple defenses. Man remember when Porter lost to Kell Brook and Keith Thurman? Amazing stuff really amazing

That's exactly what in saying. Crawford has more potential but it means squat if he keeps fighting Jeff horns of the world and shot brits

Far from elite but will always be in the top 5 of any active roster at 147.

He has faced more prime fighters than Bud

An elite fighter doesn’t lose to all of the top challengers he faces. He’s very close to elite and has been given so many chances. He comes close but always comes up short. I’m a fan and watch all of his fights but Porter is the ultimate gatekeeper, no way he’s elite.

To say "No way" he is elite is not fair or realistic in my opinion. I'd like to know what qualifies a fighter as a gate keeper to you and what qualifies them as an elite. Shawn Porter is a two time welter weight champion, who has never been soundly beat by any of the top "elite" guys that he's fought. In fact many people believe he beat Thurman and deserved a draw at least against the Best welter in the game in Errol Spence. Gate keepers don't perform or have the stats that Porter has. Josesito Lopez would be more of a "Gate keeper".

Jeff Horn had just taken a belt off Pacquiao and it was Crawfords first fight since becoming undisputed at 140 and he beat him emphatically. I agree Crawford should be doing more but it's a matter of fact that that is more impressive than anything Shawn Porter has done.

Porter is the last stepping stone to the elite.
I feel bad for him that Crawford won't fight him.

Porter way above a gatekeeper but just one half step from being ELITE.

Dude always brings it and for the most part ends up with the “L” at the higher elite levels

Elite fighters don’t “come close” to beating top fighters, they beat them. I’m a fan of Porter and rooted for him in many of the fights he lost. He’s almost an A fighter but after coming up short so many times, it’s impossible to call him elite. Gatekeeper is what he is. Crawford is being asked to overpay Porter, not because people think Porter has a good chance but to see how well Crawford does against a guy who has fought many of the top Welters. Porter is solid and skilled, he’s just not elite. No shame in that, I’m a fan.
