DAZN have got the two biggest stars in Boxing. Can offer unrivalled guranteed money versus a outdated PPV Model which relies on hitting certain numbers. What annoys me is, none of the fighters who are mostly PBC Linked, don’t have contracts with Showtime for some reason, it would prevent Eddie Hearn being able to make offers and lure them away. But given they don’t have contracts with SHO, how will Showtime keep hold of Spence, Wilder, Broner, Mikey Garcia, Charlo Brothers, Danny Garcia, Gervonta Davis when they are all probably getting offered triple or quad triple what they are currently earning. Showtime can’t compete, as Arum said they are a Storytelling Platform not a Sports Service, so they aren’t going to match what DAZN are offering Kinda sad, i always liked Showtime, but given Boxing dosen’t get high ratings for them and is becoming heavily inflated beyond their budgets, is Showtime OUT ? Unless they can somehow drag Floyd Mayweather out, and revive Showtime PPV and All Access.
But how can they retain fighters who are being offered triple the amount of money at another Platform ?
Not dead but... I always wonder with the schedule why they always go heavy in first half of the year and then only go one or two big shows in the second half. Seems like all the effort is being put into Wilder v Fury and nothing else.
Maybe it's because they start running out of money and so can't promote as many cards later in the year or perhaps it has something to do with the NFL season starting in September.
I don't think PBC fighters will get paid more at DAZN. Most top Haymon fighters get paid welk over what is standard for each fight. Its probably why Haymon can only afford to showcase them once a year, two at very best. I don't see DAZN matching or topping the inflated purses Haymon pays them.
I agree, stick a fork in showtime boxing. It's just about done. HBO and Showtime telecasts were so good back in the day but one has taken the 10 count and the other is on ***** street or wobbly legged to be more PC.
LOL didnt wilder say he turned down the dazn offer because he values loyalty so he stayed with showtime for the breazeale fight then he dumps them and goes to fox? LOL
Let them die. HBO had a FAR superior production and was the only premium cable service I was willing to pay for to watch boxing. Showtime is weak, and not worth the cash. Let it die and push the cards to Fox.
Good once less subscription service that I will have to pay for. I only have that channel for boxing anyway.
