    For Showtime that is.

I can't think of one that is a grander business flop.

Are there any others that heve this level of stupidity and foolishness?

On a smaller scale, BBC giving Audley Harrison a £1m deal wasn't the greatest bit of business

I suspect the inhabitants of Shelby, Montana might disagree with the title of this thread.

on another smaller scale, Sky deicing Amir Khan was a Box Office fight immediately before he got iced by Prescott

No doubt about it. Espinoza is really one of the culprit. I'd be very surprised if he makes it at the end of October.

Somebody on the inside will have to take the fall on this massive debacle.

I really doubt the actual losses are as bad as the fans think or hope.

But it does put another nail in the concept of ppv, and we fans can only rejoice on that.

    Doesn't matter whatsoever.

    PPV sales are bull****.
It's all laundering from drug money; that will never dry up.

Directly, this deal was always going to lose money, but you have to factor in the gains in all other areas it has delivered before you can determine that.

You can't just say PPV revenue v money paid to Floyd.

How many more subscribers do they now have?
How much more have they generated from ad revenue?
How much more have they made from other boxing cards they've put on; Canelo? Broner? Khan? Garcia?

The Floyd deal was an investment in their boxing division, and one which has done quite well so far. It's one which establishes them alongside HBO in the immediate term and they'll stay in that position even after Floyd retires.

It's fairly obvious Floyd will make a success of promoting too, and they're likely to be the channel of choice for both him, Haymon and Schaefer fighters in the long-term.

    LOL. What Fools!

    Showtime is doing great.

They've locked up the number 1 P4P boxer in the world and the highest PPV star in the world exclusively to their network.
Showtime has Mayweather & Al haymon fighters while HBO has to set for Top Rank second tier fighters.
