Noticed this against the JMM fight and also against MAB in the rematch. Fighters with speed can hit Pac. Even MAB hit Pac. Is MAB shot? He is not in his peak, but he is far from shot I believe. What is your opinion on this guys?

I don't think Marquez has a ton of speed he has great counter punching ability which allows him to time Pacquiao then hit him, I think very good to great counter punchers trouble Pacquiao more than speed does.

MAB is not shot. He is over the hill but not shot.

I'm not sure speed is the ultimate poison but it plays its roll.

The fights where I see he has trouble is when marquez counters him mid shots, puts the quick right hand behind his jab, and when he is attacked to the body.

Morales also had good success his first fight and I don't think of him as an especially fast fighter.

Anyone can hit PAC....just not flush for the most part. PAC is a volume puncher...anyone who wants to "TRADE" with him or try and Counter his quick punches has the opportunity to catch him. JMM, MAB and EM all tagged PAC at one point in time. Timing and speed are great to have when fighting PAC but that won't be the only factors in upsetting PAC. You truly have to be an overall technician and have heart to beat PAC. You gotta be good all around...which is why JMM, EM and MAB have all given decent accounts of themselves when they faced Manny.

hmm...i think its more timing then speed imo, JMM doesn't exactly have blinding hand speed though it's good, but he's just great at timing fighters same as MAB

Pac's rhythm just absolutely befuddles most his opponents with all his movement, so unless you're masterful @ timing a fighter like a Bhop, Morales, JMM, FMJ, Barrera, he's just gonna **** you up

which is why Hatton-Pac is gonna look like Pac-Diaz

Excellent post, I agree entirely that it's not just speed but more timing, and the ability to break Pac's rhythm. Marquez and Morales really weren't afraid to enter Pac's punching range because when they did they were punching and backing Pacquiao up.

I don't think its speed that kills Pac. Rather, it is the other fighter's ability to handle Pac's speed that proves pivotal. Marquez has shown a great ability to nulify guys faster than himself, as has Morales (who was actually quite slow for a 130 lbs fighter when he met Pac), and when you combine that with decent pop and great chin and heart, that's what it takes to beat him. Very vulnerable p4p number 1 if you ask me.

well the people he got alot of trouble from where morales and marquez....2 fighters with not much in common.

but i think the way of beating him is countering while keeping a workrate going. if you let him swarm then you will find yourself on the ropes for most of the fight....to stop a dynamo you have to clutch it handle it and back him up. armstrong was a monster but against zivic a guy who was immensly herky jerky with a bit of pop and brawlign attitude broke the rythmn. he did th e same with lamotta as well...using a jab then nitty gritty infighting.

what makes pacman so akward is that he is immensly aggresive yet only uses striaght punches while in a southpaw stance. it's completely backward but works perfectly...

but when he is on the backfoot he is pretty much hittable.

when he is on the inside he knows where it's at and will use his handspeed to chop the man down.

but against morales morales got into a war then took a step back and found manny throwing into air. same with marquez he got insid eof manny and let loose but after a flurry he sidestepped to which manny has no real defence.

to beat him fomr my personal opinion you need a guy who has a great jab. can brawl and can counterpunch. marquez looked to be able too berrera could of morales just tanked him over. maybe a casamayor i think might of (if he was younger) had a really good chance

Well Marquez is rated number 2 or 3 in most boxing fans top ten p4p so your question should have an obvious answer.:good

i think timing is vital to beat pacman. but a great power puncher with a great chin would be the second best factor. somehow i see pacman even trying to trade with margarito if that fight was to ever happen.

Speed is a great bonus but TIMING is the key to beat Pac. Of course, you also have to match his conditioning.
