No not even close. He established himself as a top 2 WW in the world after last night. But the win over Brook does not make him an elite fighter. It's just a step in the right direction. Welterweight division has been weird for the past 5+ years. This was the first time that 2 young top Welterweights fought each other since Pacquiao Cotto. To find such a fight at the full Welterweight limit you would have to go back to Margarito Williams.

As far as I'm concerned the question of who's the top 147 pounder in the world has been unanswered since the Cotto, Margarito, Williams fights. Since then it's just been guys feasting on older fighters, smaller fighters and just flat ducking the top young and hungry guys. Pacquiao was always too small to be the best 147 pounder. And Mayweather never actually fought and beat a top young, hungry, Welterweight. So I can't even rate him as the best 147 pounder in the world ever. It's been vacated for almost 10 years or so.

What last night gave us was some clarity as it pertains to the WW division. Now we need Thurman and Spence to fight to determine who the best 147 pounder. And no if it happens in 5 years I'm not satisfied and it's not the same. Bull****, **** that. Fight now and let's see who the best really is.
