Maybe a bit premature but do you reckon he'll end up the UFC goat?

And how would a fight with Jonathan go?

Let's see, what does he need to do to achieve this mantle?

In terms of the HW division today he could do with beating the following: Hunt, Struve, Velasquez and then rematches with Werdum and Reem. If he does that as all as championship defences I think you could genuinely call him the goat HW.

In terms of likelihood, he's obviously a favourite over all of those names. There isn't anyone who's a threat to him right now.

In fact the biggest threat is probably Daniel Cormier.

I think chances are he will go down as the best. He has great striking, up there with Cro Cop and Great wrestling up there with Cain.

I mean Werdum and Dos Santos are both top ten ATG and he dominated them in recent fights.

The only way he avoids being the goat is same with Cain, get injured or get beat. Odds on either are slim right now.

It was either Babality or Bogotazo that said he was on par with Tim Sylvia. LOL

If he beats Cain in October, yes.

A fight with Jon would be great.

I would take Stipe but who knows, Jones is special, love or hate him out of the ring.

Stipe hasn't been on top long enough to claim goat but he does everything well and for all I know could end up as it.

Cain vs Stipe is the match I'm waiting for.

Speaking of Jones, I always thought a fun fight would be Jon vs JDS, well JDS isn't what he used to be but the match up always interested me.

JDS was actually a better fighter than Stipe - after taking career ending punishment in the Cain fights, the amicable Brazilian still had enough to beat Stipe, albeit in a hellacious war

Cain and JDS were probably the two best UFC HW's of all time, but injuries wrecked one and one wrecked the other, so the opportunity is there for Miocic to grab with both hands, and i think he will

Outside of beast mode Cain, Jones probably offers the biggest threat to the fireman with the Croatian flag proudly tattooed on his crotch

They could well have been the best two ever but as you say injuries mean it's a different story.

Heavyweight division is a sad division...

I need to see Stipe beat Cain. I'd also like to see him fight Werdum again.

A lot of things seem to have went right for Stipe on his run. The Overeem fight was wild.. he almost knocked him out before getting finished himself.

Stipe vs Cain is the fight to determine the greatest UFC HW of alltime, hard to make a counter-argument to that.

Hmmmmm, with the way Werdum beat Cain you'd have to wonder whether or not he'd have ever beaten Nog imo.

I give Cain a bit of mulligan for that fight. For a number of reasons he was quite evidently far from his best on the night.

The problem with Cain though is because of all the rematches we haven't actually seen him in with that many people.

    His win list is:

    Congo
    Rothwell
    Shot Nog
    Lesnar
    Silva X 2
    JDS X 2
    Browne.

Don't get me wrong, both Silva and Junior earnt their rematches but it means that Cain's resume is left a bit thin at the top level. His elite victories are what, Lesnar, Silva and JDS.

I think if he is to ever be crowned goat a win over Stipe isn't enough, we probably need Werdum as a minimum and maybe ever Reem as well.
