Muppet. Hearns was out boxing the so called master boxer, which is why all 3 judges had Tommy ahead in the 14th round. It was the weight draining by Hearns that won your boy the fight nothing else, and the tame judges in the rematch, that gave him the draw. Only an idiot would claim Leonard had superior skills than Hearns. Read ANY boxing publication from the time, or any of your scabby Murican newspapers, ALL will say the same. Tommy out boxed and out classed the media darling that was hyped up as the most skillful boxer ever but lacked the strength by the 14th to keep Leonard off him. When push comes to shove YDKSAB.
Go and tell your lies to your wife and kids. They might be stupid enough to believe you. You said Leonard DOMINATED 2 out of 3. I proved by the scorecards ( and the film is there for all to see ) that he did NOT. Having said that, you probably are simple enough to believe his win over the 38 year old Duran actually meant something.:roll:
I think most people did tbh. As for the Hagler fight, I wouldn't say it was a diabolical decision, but the question needs to be asked. How come Marvin didn't get " the benefit of the doubt " in rounds that were close in the way Leonard did? For judge Guerra to have it 118 - 110 ( Leonard ) was just plain crooked.
No you can't and you can't change official scorecards EITHER. So take your DOMINATED bias, and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
You have the front to talk about bias. Yet you want to be the one to decide that a fighter who made his debut at 19, last fought at 147 aged 23, moved up and won titles up to Cruiserweight 18 years later, and I might add WITHOUT weight stip demands was " in his prime " when your little hero beat him. I have news for you. There are plenty of people both inside boxing, and outside of boxing who will tell you Welter was far from Hearns best weight. Ironically enough, Tommy was a good bit taller, and had a wider wingspan than at least 3 of the Heavyweights that are dominating this board of late. That is a lot of frame to strip down to 147.
What should he have been doing then given that Leonard had all the physical advantages? Invite him to a game of tennis perhaps?atsch
Tell me are you a Pac fan by any chance? I only ask because like Leonard he is another fool who wants to go up but make demands on how much the other guy is allowed to weigh. It's a good job the old school fighters didn't think that way, otherwise we would only have 2 weight classes. Heavy, and Catchweight.
This is a true assessment. Leonard fought well but NEVER looked like winning, or indeed controlling the fight.
The problem here of course is your willingness to give Leonard all the credit in the world for " moving up " ( even though the ****** made weight stips ) but your lack of willingness to give Duran credit for doing the same to fight what was considered to be either the best or second best Welter in the world at that time. Bias is a funny thing at times isn't it?:rofl:rofl
I think you're confusing yourself. Of course I give Duran credit for moving up. What does that have to do with anything that I've typed so far?
Not a Pac fan at all. That's a pretty weird inference you're trying to draw here. I'll bite though--what do Pac (and Floyd's, Cotto's, Broner's, etc.) catchweights have to do with Ray Leonard?
Of course Duran had to fight a rough fight. But you don't win many rounds just by barreling into people and flailing away without landing clean (like Duran did for most of the last 2/3 of the fight). Just curious: Are you one of those guys who think that Maidana beat Mayweather?
