My apologies. For some reason I thought it was a majority verdict.

Just re-watched 30 for 30 No Mas. Really interesting documentary.
For me Duran won the first fight. No problem there.
I also think Tommy won their rematch (though it was close.)
Leonard went for the big shot too often instead of working an opening. It's interesting that again it was the left hook that got Hearns ihto trouble in round 5.

Was he the best of the 'Fab 4'? I dunno.
He was the one that called the shots though.
Duran, Hagler, Hearns...they all danced to his tune.
Another thing...Hagler for all his supposed bad-assery fought like a star-struck girl in the first few rounds against Leonard.
I believe he was intimidated of Leonard, who pranced around the ring prior to formalities like he owned the place.
He was also the first to throw a hard punch.
He didn't shoeshine his way to victory like is so often claimed. Folk saying that have watched only highlights or have simply forgotten what went on.
    Watch it again.
Leonard threw plenty of hard shots. That he didn't dent Hagler's chin doesn't alter that fact.

I'll tell you the reason why Leonard fought like that against Hearns in their second bout.... Mike Tyson.

Too close a fight to be called a robbery the verdit could have gone either way.I gave it to Leonard but wouldn't have argued if Marvin had got it.

I do think Hagler's corner did a bad job ,they were far too laid back imo.

If you don't know the connection between Leonard, Pac ,and catchweights by now it is not worth explaining it to you.

I think you will find when Mayweather fought both Cotto, and DLH for 154 titles both men weighed in at whatever they chose within the limit. Mayweather made no demands. Marquez however did demand that Mayweather weighed in at 144, but took the penalty money for Mayweather coming in above the stipulated weight.

Similarly when Pac first chased the Mosley fight it was on condition that Shane weighed a max 142, for which he was told to eff off.

Not at all, due to the fact that Maidana missed against Mayweather more than Duran did against Leonard even though the fight was 3 rounds shorter.

But hey, what does it matter as long as you are happy in that small minority that believes Leonard won. Just think of all the kids that still believe in father christmas, eh?

Absolutely, couldn't agree more. I just can't see how judge Guerra arrived at his score, unless he had already decided before the fight that he was going to award Leonard any round that was close.

Or maybe he was just incompetent. Does anyone know which other fights he judged? Might make for interesting reading.

Leonard out boxed Hagler. Ray was way too quick and Marvin way to slow.

Nah. I don't think he's overrated. For every person who places him on a pedestal there are plenty others who try to deny him the Hagler win or who make excuses for Duran saying "no mas" or slam the media for giving him undue appraisal. I'd say he sits perfectly where he is. A man who accomplished amazing things while capturing the public's imagination and doing it in a relatively short time with not so many fights.

You're not alone. It was close enough to where I really believe anybody could have gotten it and it would have been a fair verdict. A draw was probably not unwarranted.
