Don't agree. Pryor never fought anyone as big or as good as Leonard. And I believe Duran would have beaten Pryor too. I believe they're just on a higher level than Pryor. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Meh, I wouldn't put it beyond Robinson, I mean Floyd shells up when he is swarmed, my bet is, if Robinson is truly the greatest boxer he is a thinking man, and he would swarm floyd, get him to go into his shell pull his left hand on flyod head, and put his right hand through his head or pull down his arm and knock his chin off.

A terrific and sound gameplan. It'd be tough to execute with sufficient discipline to make it to the end of 15, but it maximizes Leonard's advantages in speed and footwork, possibly the only two advantages he has over Robinson.

    I enjoyed reading that.

I actually rate Sugar Ray Leonard as the second greatest Welterweight/Welterweight Champion of all time with Sugar Ray Robinson in a still distant first. Mind you as I am a die hard SRL fan rating him second at welterweight might even raise some well respected spirited debate but given his accomplishments as fighter and champion of the 147 division from overall quality of opposition to set financial records in tilte fight bonanza's, Benitez, Duran 1 & 2 as well as Hearns 1, I for one personally have no problem rating just second right after Sugar Ray Robinson and ahead of all time greats such as "Hammerin" Henry Armstrong, Kid Gavilan, Barney Ross, Benny Leonard, Carmen Basillio, Emille Griffith, Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles, Jimmy McClarrin, just to name a few and all in a neck breathing distance behind him.

I never saw those other fights but it looked to me like Robinson was toying with Dykes. Sugar even dropped him with a hook as he was floating backwards. He may have carried him the distance though I cant say that for certain.

I would give Sugar Ray Robinson the advantage in footwork/quickness. Handspeed pretty even. Robinson had more range and was a little taller. Leonard probably the better counterpuncher.

I think overall the original Sugar Ray had too much firepower without any glaring weaknesses that Leonard could exploit.

he never fought at light heavy weight. he wrongly fought for a light heavyweight title at super middle against an average fighter who had never fought at super middle

That's more misleading than saying Hearns was as big as Bob Foster. Arguello very rarely came in over 140 while Leonard carried both his power and strength well all the way up to SMW. He naturally had a much more massive frame.

Yes, Duran was a LW and about the height of Pryor, but he was not only much more technically skilled (and much more experienced by the time he met Leonard) he was also more or less a physical freak that could stand toe to toe not only with Hagler but also with a beast like Barkley, and take their best shots. Pryor was strong as a bull at 140, but can anyone see him taking Barkley's best?
