Is taking the line of never doing rematches a noble, and acceptable stance to take?

Is taking the line of never doing rematches a noble and acceptable stance for a boxer to take?

How do you feel about rematches?

Do you feel all close matches be rematched? Or perhaps just SD's or MD's? Or maybe you just feel that rematches are a total waste of a boxers time?

    No.

Edit: For all that Floyd takes for his close first fight with Castillo, he rematched and set the record straight. If he never did that, there would be a large question mark over his head.

Hmm this thread sounds loaded, for somebody in particular.

I think it all depends on the situation.

As for being noble, is rolling around on the floor grabbing your balls from an imaginery low blow "noble"?

I had a thought that perhaps there should be a rule stating that all MD, and SD decisions must be rematched - but then I thought it might be an invitation for corrupt scoring. Also you get a lot of SD's which were never that close in reality.

that depends of a number of things..

where your at, in your career.. if are you close to retirement, and perhaps have 1 fight left, i could see why, you would want to prove yourself against another fighter

and essentially, what opponent you next, have lined up.. as an example lets use joe and X, if joe takes on dawson, i can easely understand, his no rematch stance..

it simply depends on the situation..

I thought the same thing yesterday. For all the grief Floyd does get, he did the right thing is sorting that out, and winning convincingly second time out.

It was the Tszyu/Mayweather thread, and the Vince Philip's arguments - that partly prompted this one.

Does he need to? He absolutely schooled DLH and im a neutral.

Fact: DLH MADE Mayweather wear REYES gloves (in hope floyd would break his hand)

Fact: The ring size was all catered towards DLH being able to go toe to toe with Mayweather. Ie it was smaller than usual.

Fact: It was at a weight class which was clearly a step too far for Mayweather.

Fact: DLH was hitting air and shoulders all night.

Fact: Despite all these factors in his favour DLH lost by SD but it really should have been UD. Any one who states otherwise needs to revaluate their judgement.

It's a bull**** stance to take, Joe C or no Joe C. If a bout is very competitive and there is enough question regarding its outcome then a rematch is warranted. I'm certainly sure that if any of these "no rematch" guys lost their straps they'd be begging for an opportunity to do it again.
