Was thinking bout this earlier while I was walking the dog...the Brits have had some good fighters in recent years and also a lot of letdowns.

Is Taylor the best fighter from the UK since calzaghes retirement...he's looking like the goods, fast good skills ,grit, decent puncher..in as far as all round p4p potential is he our best

Anyone in recent years you can think of who would rank higher or at least rival him?

    LOL Calzaghe.

The guy who sat on his WBO belt and didn't fight anyone until they were past it?

    Don't insult Prestonpans Puncher.

    Quite possibly.

Would be good for him to move up in weight and see how he gets on. Become a multi-weight World Champion.

    Too early to say, perhaps?

The signs do indeed look good, his record so far is eye catching and his fundamentals look pretty good indeed... In that sense, it's tempting to jump in and just say yes.

But... A couple of losses would really take the shine off, especially if they're underwhelming performances and/or opponents, it's much easier to judge fairly once they've done everything they can (or want to) do and retire.

In fairness the question is nowhere near an all-time deal, it's asking if he might be the best Brit of the last 13-ish years.

It's not really a dumb question to be asking IMHO.

I'm talking about the massive overrating that is being done here since yesterday's fight. The best since calzhage? wipe 140? wipe 147?

for a guy whose best wins are ramirez and prograis.Whose best wins, at the same time, are crawfords leftovers.

Overrated prograis, overrated ramirez and overrated taylor. And a forum that sometimes is just ridiculous.

Fury and Joshua have to be in front. Wilder and Wlad mean more to heavyweight bxoing than Prograis and Ramirez ever did for 140.

Brook, Frampton, and those guys are behind Taylor though.

    Froch is just ahead.

Asking if a fighter is the best British fighter skillwise isn't massively overating..it's a question...is there anyone recently who was or is better with more potential?

had I only read this post about taylor today I would not have posted that answer. But it's hard to read all the nonsense that has been posted here today and not to say STOP. freaking prograis and freaking ramirez. Who the **** do you guys pretend to trick? do you think that anyone with a minor idea about boxing could believe all that BS? for a guy who won to ****ing prograis and ****ing ramirez?

And all that, at the same time, while you guys say that best ramirez and prograis wins are nobodies (since crawford has not been really tested).

Ridiculous, an insult to people's intelligence.

But yes, I know I know.... It will pass in a couple of days. No problem. No problem... I should have said nothing... just let the time go by...

Don't lump me in with those on here who ride fighter's dicks like the morning train.

My first topic I've ever posted about Taylor and I dared to think it was worth debate

I'd say it's between him and Froch

He's certainly at the moment above Fury and Joshua, and he's gone well past Hatton, Frampton, Haye, Burns now.
