Depends on who you beat if you are undefeated

that was just an immediate example.... I mean if he doesnt want to fight than he should publicly retire instead of teasing everyone

i personally think he should retire.. he doesnt have much more to prove i think he would beat everyone out there

It's important when it comes to selling fights, VERY important, usually people pay to see if a certain boxer would lose and when you have two highly regarded undefeated fighters battling then that brings major interest.

In general it is overrated, resume is what matters and rematch attempts as Lennox Lewis already proved.

going back to calzaghe, fights he sould have had again were against hopkins and reid, as while I think it's bunk to say he lost, he certainly didn't prove himself to be definitively the better fighter (though I do understand why he doesn't want to fight BHop again for being such a ridiculously bad loser). had he lost those equally marginally and then won fairly comfortably in rematches I think that edges over an '0'. PBF deserved a lot of credit for rematching Castillo, for example.

the 0 is not overrated, when you dont lose then your doing something good. Mayweather isnt worried about his 0, he feels his paid his dues and only wants big fights. when your champ for 10 years...it might get a little boring. Mayweather SR. told me last week that Mayweather jr is going to fight the winner of Pacquaio-Hatton. so if Mayweather is worried about is 0, then there should be no way he should fight Pacquaio because Pacquaio would be his hardest fight.

Not only is the 0 overrated it's bad for boxing. Promoters are wasting their fighters prime away having them fight nobodies and has-beens in order up their investments marketability. Had danish fighters like Kessler or Larsen taken more risks for less pay earlier in their carreers they would have been more experienced and could generate more income now. Instead Kessler lacks the coaching and experiences he needs to become a great fighter instead of a good one and finds himself in a "risk vs reward" trap and Larsen pissed his carreer away alltogether.

Imagine Kessler fighting people like Hopkins and Calzaghe 3-5 years ago and probably have lost but walking away with experience and recognition.

Depends on the quality of opposition and the number of fights.

Overrated indeed. That's why I have a lot of respect for Cotto, he's willing to take risks.

It depends, but in more cases than not, it is over-rated.

For 2 young up & coming fighters, who face each other with a 9-0 record, it’s massive, the biggest fight of their careers thus far. I’m not trying to say that a fighter couldn’t come back from this loss, just merely trying to give an example of where the 0 is a big deal, even if most fans couldn’t give a crap of who lost.

    Good point.
