In recent months and years there have been some decisions that have been very dubious to say the very least...:nut Is the arguement how the points are scored...:think or is it how different refs and judges interpret the styles and different scoring...:think Your thoughts and views ESB...:think
No, it is not the scoring system but the judges. The controversial fights have had nothing to do with say a knockdown or a point off they have all been on 10-9 rounds which is the same as a rounds system
It is the scoring system. It's not fit for purpose in a modern sport. It lacks any objectvity. Imagine playing a football match, one side winning 2-0 but victory being given to the other side on the say so of 3 judges sat on the sidelines. That's where boxing's at.
If judges are having trouble with the existing system (I'm not sure they are) I don't see how making it more complicated is going to help. All they have to do at the moment decided which fighter had the better of a round or whether it was close enough to be called a draw and add up their cards. McG, boxing isn't football. Analogies between the 2 don't hold much water IMHO.
