right now, with kirkland there angulo, forrest, mean joe greene, chavez jr, joel julio, alcine and now sergio martinez.....
with some good veterans like santos and simms :deal

the 154 division has been a bit on the shady side the last couple of years...but now, it seems to be getting heated just like the welterweights.....i can even see some 154lb'ers mixing it up with some 147lb'ers....:bbb

what do you guys think, and who do you think will come out as the elite of the young guns.....

if martinez can keep fighting like he did on saturday, i can very well see him taking over....along with angulo who might be a bit slow, but his timing and punching will take him to the top....he puts everything into ever shot and damages you with it, which is what off-sets speed.....the only one i think can beat him is martinez who can be slick as hell and can counter like no other......

kirkland, though i love watching him, i think he's gonna end up like lacy....

of course i would love to see chavez jr in the mix, but that's still far away....

The future of 154 looks MUCH brighter than the future of 147. The top level guys aren't nearly as good, but I'd venture to say that the second tier is on the verge of being better.

The division a few months ago meant nothing to me. Any division where Vernon Forrest is the stand out fight must be lacking. But the future looks very bright. Martinez impressed me a lot on Saturday. I thought he looked really good and he should be able to take Mora now. Angulo is another promising fighter, who would be a great opponent for a couple of the older guys. I'd like to see him face Spinks, which would be a great styles contrast.

Personally though, I'm not a fan of these junior/light/super divisions, so I'd rather see the bigger 154lbers move up into the weak middleweight division and the smaller guys go down to face Margo, Cotto, Berto and the rest.

154 is where I think Cintron should be. Other than that I really see Angulo having a very bright future there. What do you think of putting Forrest there with Santos?

that would be a hell of a fight....would be good to see 2 veterans leave the torch for the young guns.......

definitly the division. You forget Ronald Hearns, who is going to batter Duddy on HBO in january. Margarito and williams are likely to move up in the future. And there are still some old veteran moneymakers, DLH, Mosley and Mayorga.
definitly the division of the coming years

Kirkland vs Angulo.... make it happen!!!! heh heh... ;)

When the time comes, that will be a good fight for both... Angulo showing he can deal with someone like Kirkland, and Kirkland facing a tough tough guy with a chin so it shouldnt be a blowout, whoever wins deserves respect.

But its def an interesting division for sure...

Id like to see Kassim Ouma somehow get revived and get a fight against some of these guys... maybe bunema lol.

154 is coming around... I agree with most of you guys that 154 in couple of years will be the hot weight to be in as WW is right now. At 154 I root for my boy Santos, I feel bad for the guy because he has been overlooked for years but he has the tools... At this point I will like to see him against Forrest or Mora to unify tittles.
