Ok its been awhile now and its not really cute anymore. I'm starting to get a little annoyed seeing these 12 round fights not labeled. Is this going to be a long term thing? Are there any talks to end this?

Annoying isn't it? I don't actually know what started the issue but the WBA whether we like them or not are still a sanctioning body, and it's box recs job to record that stuff isn't it? They list IBO , WBU fights as title fights, why not the WBA?

Yeah you'd think they were posturing in order to get something but now its getting to a point where you wonder.

The site the box rec were mad about is awful and they shouldn't be insecure at all about it. And by doing this they've made themselves the bad guy because fans were never going to use that nonsense anyway and they mutilated their own database over it.

Wikipedia just copies information from boxrec. Well, rather the editors use boxrec to fill out wikipedia entries.

Boxrec is legit, they have a large dedicated team that does meticulous fight recording. They have now even branched out into amateur fights, which is fantastic. The only bad part about boxrec is their abysmal ratings system.

I got banned on their forums for having what they considered a bad boxing take on Canelo GGG series. This was years ago and only a short-term ban, but I never went back. Always felt that was odd.

I also dont like how viewers need to register after a few clicks. Seems like a self-defeating venture in a sport where any fans, even casual, would be helpful

I can´t comment about the forum as I never used it. But it seems their site struggles with traffic issues, so thats why they are asking for registration. At least it seems to me that way.
When you open multiple tabs at once, the site automatically throttles your connection. They are probably cutting costs.

I understand that they feel like no longer recognizing the WBA, and its their right to do so, but they should have kept the results they already recorded.

That GGG was partially or even majority to blame for 3rd Canelo fight happening so late. GGG was wronged in the first fight, sure, and he basically picked the judges for the 2nd fight only to cry foul after that fight too. Immediately after the fight it came out that GGG complained about Canelo's beard length, complained about legal hand wrapping techniques, lockerroom noise, and demanded a potential 3rd fight take place in NYC/MSG. Altogether it was a bad look *in my opinion*.

I had GGG winning fight 1 and fight 2 a draw FWIW...

The WBA did not want to pay Boxrec's fees and have chosen to make FightFax their official recordkeeper.

Yes when you do deep research you get like 30 or 40 clicks before you have to "prove you aren't a robot" and "identify the traffic lights" . I've used the site enough where they've given up on me lol and let me go about my business.

The WBA information is behind a paid subscription.

i'm 100% certain it's still in the code on the back end that when everything is resolved they'll pop back into existence. but it's still an ugly and strange situation. it's like having the Oxford Dictionary removing all words used by Shakespeare because the National Theatre created it's own book.

saying that. the IBA and WBA now working together and creating fightfax just screams of the UFC-cation of our sport that i am not pleased for in the future. they wanted to control and create the narrative for the history of the sport. boxrec showed them how quickly they can be embarressed...so that chat along the lines of "boxrec should grow up" or "they shouldnt think they have the power to remove world champions" etc. is sort of the point. thats what this loose cabal in 2022+ are/were trying to do.

IBA- does the ams and olympics.
WBA- does the pro rankings and the belt.
Fightfax- will be the history book.
TKO group- will manage and promote.
Saudi fund- will be the capital.

this is bigger than an independent boxing history website being pissed off that their work is being copied. this is the amalgym of coroperate interests fencing and monopolising on our sport.
