....than most of the world titles held by American fighters? For example, in the USA, glass chinned can crusher Deontay Wilder holds the WBC world Heavyweight title, Daniel Jacobs holds the WBA 'regular' Middleweight title & PED cheat journeyman Adrien Broner hold the WBA 'Super' Jr Welterweight title. How paper can you get? Here in Britain: Anthony 'Big AJ™' Joshua MBE clashes with Dillian 'The Villian™' Whyte for the British Heavyweight title on December 12th. Early next year Sam 'The Savage™' Eggington will square off with 'Funtime™' Frankie Gavin for the British Welterweight crown. Callum 'Mundo™' Smith recently defeated Rocky 'If you smell what The Rock is cooking™' Fielding to win the British Super Middleweight title. You've got to admit those 3 British belt holders will be/are much better than the world champions from America...
Interesting... Of all the fighters you have named in this post, the three highest rated and most accomplished are the three American titlists you listed.
Head to head they re garbage Joshua & Whyte >>>>>>>>>> Wilder Smith & Fielding>>>>>>>>>>> Jacobs Gavin & Eggington >>>>>>>>>>>> Broner
Serious questinon Hans - are any of these Brits any good? Its been proven time and time again you dont have to be good to win a belt. Brook seems good, but the others? (i dont follow the domestic scene) A shot Froch Cobra'd Groves, who beat deGale, who struggled mightily against Dirrell. None of the 168ers would ever have beaten Froch nevermind Calzaghe None of the smaller guys would have stood a chance against Marquez, Pacquiao, Morales, or Barerra And Fury and Joshua are just diabolical compared with GOAT Lewis It just seems boxing has gotten **** all round, outside of the EE monsters
Indeed they are :nod Joshua MBE would KO Wilder literally when they touch gloves. I'd also pick him over Vlad. Smith would beat all Super Middleweight champions less DeGale MBE. At welterweight Brook is king, followed by Khan (Khan would lose the odd fight by stoppage) At lightweight? Take your pick but I reckon Campbell MBE beats everyone, followed closely by Flanagan. Mitchell and Crolla are also easily top 10. At featherweight the only person I'd pick over Selby is Lomachenko, and even that wouldn't be with confidence. Either Frampton or Quigg would catch Rigo and end him, and we will find out who is better soon Haskins is the goods at Batam and has a win over Jamie McDonnell but Jamie is more consistent. I don't write either off agianst anyone. Keep your eye on Ryan Barneet tto At Jr Batam, Kal Yafai could beat at least one of the title holders now (Kono most likely)
at the touch gloves KO good stuff Hans its not really fair to compare them with ATGs anyway (tho Pacquiao's roiding puts even the yanks to shame) Murray could easily have been a champ by now, went 11 GGG, he's the epitomy of the heroic British failure lol you know youre getting old when it seems Zaggers and JMM was fighting only the other day, senile, that era is gone, but it seems like only yesterday.... better go get some of this glorious British sunshine (seems even the sun is on roids in the US and A....
Yeah, it has an interesting history. Apparently, it is the oldest continuously awarded title belt in boxing, having first been bestowed on fighter Freddie Welsh in 1909: http://www.bbbofc.com/content/lord-lonsdale-challenge-belt The guy who started this was Hugh Lowther, the 5th Earl of Lonsdale. Here's an interesting video that gives some good info on the history of this belt and how they are made today: https://vimeo.com/137541392
