I havent seen them talking much about strategy. They talk about Calzaghe's speed and workrate and expect that to win the fight. They even are using that gimicky punch counting bag.

What happens though if Calzaghe has trouble getting set or getting his punches off, do they have a plan?

This is remiding me a bit of the Hatton-PBF fight. With the Hatton camp not having much of a real plan and expecting that Hattons physical qualities would be too much for PBF. The Calzaghe punch counting bag reminded me of Hattons body punching bag. Both look nice but wheres the strategy?

I'm actually starting to have doubts about this aswel. Hopkins may very well be able to pull off the upset.

you really expect them to tell Hopkins there strategies :patsch (note: not a stategy but stategies - they will have plans for anything Hopkins can do.

Calzaghe IS the strategy. This guy is more versatile than any plan you can dream of.

Calzaghe does not have a gameplan in the ring. You can tell, he goes in and just fights. He is good and forcing his will on lesser fighters. But a guy who is a master tactician that does not leave one stone unturned and fights a mental fight like Bhop has more options. Calzaghe just simply punches(slaps) more when he gets dropped or hit with a big shot. He really does NOTHING different to adjust in any fight. Same ****. Same movement. If he is in trouble he just gets on the inside and opens up...not much strategy in that.

I don't think Calzaghe is underestimating Hopkins just some of his fans are. Calzaghe just sounds like he is but in reality he knows that Hopkins will be a good challenge.

Hard to say - I just think they don't take Hopkins as serious as they did Kessler, but thats not saying that they think it will be a walkover.

Calzaghe is not underestimating Hopkins, but he is underestimating the ref's bias and judges. Criminal judges and ref should not be allowed in boxing.

Saw a short interview with Calzaghe and him and he said him and is father don't look at videos and pick an opponent's style apart, they just concentrate on doing their thing, and Calzaghe says he has the ability to adapt in the ring if things aren't working.

My thoughts exactly. It's looking a bit too much like the Hatton-PBF episode. In fights like this the strategy wins the match.

For Calzaghe at this stage of his career sitting down and watching hours and hours of Hopkin's and working out different strategies would probably work against him, he fights on instinct, take a look at a few tapes see what your up against and then concentrate on what you are gonna do, anything more would give Joe Analysis Paralysis.
