    Lamotta boiled down.

    Toney was dropped by Jones, Johnson, and Montell Griffin (I think...). Great chin combined with an incredible ability to roll with punches and defuse terror impact.

    LaMotta took a lot of clean shots. He wasn't knocked down till he had over 80 + fights. Toney had a superior defense. He was able to slip and also roll with punches. I will say Jake LaMotta might've been slightly underrate in that as well.

    Cant say that Toney could've taken the shots LaMotta took. Not many could.

    ETM - I think the first KD Jake suffered was against Danny Nardico in his 103rd fight...think I read that in article in some mag or other years ago...

    anyway he was not naturally bigger than toney, they were both around natural 168 pounders.

    if you are a natural mw , does not matter the weight, your frame will be always of middleweight. he was not built like a hw.
