Is The Crap Economy Playing into Your PPV Boxing Buying Decisions?

Same here. The one PPV (Cotto-Mosley) I did order,though, Dish Network..for whatever reason, didn't charge me. :huh For the big fights, we usually have fight parties. But for smaller ones, I tune into my boys FTA Receiver using a Slingbox. Though I am without a doubt ordering Cotto-Margarito. Maybe Dish Network will give me another freebie.

 

I'm definitely not saying it was easy. My hands kept wanting to type ESB into the address bar but I resisted! I'm not sure if I'll be disciplined enough to do the same thing for Cotto -Margarito though.

 

Luck you. I just paid 4.15 (mid-grade) here in North Florida. It took 61 bucks to fill my **** up.

Yes it is I first got on it about 5 months ago and can get off ever since.

 

its been poor match ups that have stopped it for me. pLus some of the fights I've really wanted to see were on hbo non pay per view...or euro fights that were unavailable either way.

 

Cotto-Margarito is must see on my big screen, everything else is Sopcast on my PC.

 

Boxing has become a cult sport. There are few fans about so promoters has to make the most of them, by charging $50 for each one. Reducing the price to something like $10 would probably be more beneficial for boxing in the long run but the promoters arent in it for the long run...

 

Not the economy but the totally **** cards has curbed my ordering.

I've just gotten tired of paying for **** over the years.

When a truly big main event comes along or a stacked card I'll buy like the Cotto/Margo war coming up-thats cant miss.

The Pac ppv I would have ordered in the past.

Now with Tye Big Sky Fields as the chief support I'll pass on that putrid junk.

 

only the ricky hatton fight in a long time was on PPV in the uk and i ended up watching that free thanks to a link on esb.

i still pay for boxing , but on a monthly sports package and not for a 1 off fight.

IMO fights that take place at 4 am in the morning uk time should not be ppv.

 

I tend to not pay for PPV's unless I can find a group of friends to pool our money together because PPV's have been sucking the life out of boxing sence they have been around. I have no probblem with how HBO and Showtime and their PPV's cover boxing, I do belive that the big fights should be on the Networks and not Pay Cable or PPV.

I paid about 45$ in gas, $135.00 for floor seats $175.00 for a Hotel room, and drove 5 hours each way to see the Williams vs Quintana rematch....

Economy isn't great, but it's not as bad as many make out, it hit several industries hard, like construction, but I'm doing the same as ever and I don't buy PPV's anyway, never, under any circumstance do I pay extra when I already pay a premium cable bill to watch boxing.

There has not been a card truly worth 50$ in a long time. Then we have Marquez-Vasquez trilogy on regular Showtime championship boxing. Only 'big name or big money' fights get on PPV, rarely are they worth it at that and mostly have bad cards.

The other type of PPV is the smaller level ones that couldnt get broadcasted anywhere, those are never worth it.

I can buy three large bottles of premium liquor for 50$, if I had an extra bit I just wanted to blow, I'd go this route.

 

Like I said, some career's in the United States are absolutely thriving, others cut short. But overall it's overrated, wage increases would solve the gas price issue, the gas prices are hardly the problem when in Europe it's 10$ a gallon, it's America not increasing wages with inflation, when the citizens ***** about that, more will get done to solve the issue, instead they ***** about fuel prices.

I feel for you though being a student, education costs over here are ABSURD. That's another topic for another day though...:yep
