Is the HW division today as exciting as it ever has been since 1999

If all the top guys were fighting each other then it would be a very entertaining era but of course, they’re not. Having one dominant force like Klitschko is boring.

No it is very unexciting. Big fights are not being made. Many top 15 contenders are grossly out of shape (Fury, Ortiz, Ruiz, Miller). Fighters are dodging each other.

It's the worst era quality wise since ... man, you have to scroll way back to find an era this soft. It's basically the Klitschko era leftovers, except they're older and more stale. As a poster commented above, it COULD be more exciting except for that nobody is fighting anybody else. There's a lot of talent waiting in the wings however, and I for one think that in 2 years time this interlude will be a fading nightmare.

This was my original Point, I never claimed that this was the most talented era, simply the most exciting in about 20 years...

A question that I believe is worth a thought is..

How do Lewis, Bowe, Tyson and Holyfield at their bests get on against AJ, Wilder and Fury. Because I don't think AJ, Wilder or Fury get much better.

Personally I believe Lewis, Bowe and even little Tyson and little Holyfield beat them all, maybe I'm looking back with rose tinted glasses, just an opinion.

Thats a false opinion. If it was "very unexciting" nobody would take any notice.

Newsflash -there was more PPV fights in 2018 alone than there was during a DECADE in the Klitschko era. How bout that?

Networks uploading fights shows how many people are watching and HW fights far outnumber other fights and its not even remotely close.
People are watching and tuning in because of the excitement factor being back.
Entertainment value is excitement and the HW division is providing plenty of it. The metrics don't lie , he salty Klitscko fanboys do lie. :polutxoso:

The Klitschko era. That was far, far worse in terms of quality and anything else one could mention.

Except of course that Old Man Klitschko ran the best HW around today to the brink of defeat, and his leftovers like Povetkin and Pulev are still some of the top guys fighting. And oh, yeah, The other beltholder Wilder got comprehensively stomped by Wlad in sparring.

Fans hating on the current heavyweight landscape have to be new to the sport because the Klitschko era...that was depressing stuff.

It's not. There's no dominant champ and top fighters are not fighting each other.
Second tier fighters are either 40 year old guys from Klitschko era or very low level guys like Molina, Washington, Shpilka Breazeale or Dupuah.

Why do you lie , because the facts go against your agenda?

The second tier guys are - Whyte , Parker , Pulev , Rivas , Kownaki , Ortiz , Joyce , Ruiz Jr , Kayabel , Hunter.

Assessing the quality of the current crop of HWs compared to past eras is pretty meaningless until they start fighting each other. It's like claiming your latest girlfriend is the hottest you've had but until you bed her, it's kinda meaningless....
