We need less belts not more. The moment it becomes "recognized" as one of the major belts is when belts become truly pointless.
where do you get there are only 4 champs per division? the WBA alone recognize 3 different champions per division and apparently the promoters and ring annoucers and everyone else do too because they are announced as "world champion" at every mention :rofl interim WBA World super middleweight champion - Stanyslav Kashtanov WBA World super middleweight champion - Carl Froch WBA Super World super middleweight title champion - Andre Ward how the WBA is even taken seriously these days is astonishing atsch
Yes that seems to be a big problem as well. It doesn't seem logical to have "interim" champion while the present champion is still there, yet more pointless to declare "super" champion and "regular" champion. Boxing needs one true governing body like every other sport.
its a sign of the times when fighters get phone calls asking them if they are interested in a certain title fight and they simply pass on it because they would rather fight one of the other titlists instead
Yeah, true. Amen. We should just revert to when a bad ass would travel around, swag on up into a bar full of toughs and proclaim himself champ, announcing he will lick any SOB in the joint. :deal
The problem with the lesser bodies (WBU, WBF, IBA, IBO & WBU) is that they are doing the same thing other governing bodies do, charge fees, promote their fighters, tamper with rankings in a subjective manner....and expect to become legit eventually atsch The main governing bodies weakness is that they can be influenced by $ from big promoters, the weakness of all the minor bodies is that they can by influenced by much less money :dead
The real beef is because Ali Raymi called out their belt holder then & they didn't like his abrasive tune :yep The IBO dropped Ali Raymi from their ranking, from their own he referred to them as the International Bum Organization
