To be fair, Mavrovic would not be easily ko'ed by Wlad or Vitali either. There were vicious exchanges in that fight. That "lumbering oaf of an ATG" as you put it, showed a nice array of punches and the resolve to overcome a very determined man. Mavrovic would have given the Klitschko brothers problems imo.

Just like a Kingpin Johnson or Eddie Chambers can give fighters problems by refusing to lay down in the 2nd.

Mavrovich was a complete nobody who had no business standing in the ring with Lewis for 12 rounds. Lewis took him lightly and made the fight drag on for much longer than necessary. Back then Lewis got grilled in the press for that terrible fight much like the Klits are today, just now all the Lewis fanboys act as if every Lewis fight was a flawless masterpiece and every single opponent was an ATG.

I think a heavy who is under pressure from his trainer to force the KO
in a fight he swept almost every round, and then gets it with 5 seconds
    to go deserves honorable mention.

I wonder are more of their fans taller than 180 centimeters, or shorter? Seems just as likely to me as the race thing.
