He was boxing early but Baldomir was getting to him regardless, let's face it Gatti doesn't have good defense and you can't learn that a few months before one fight when that's the style you used your entire career. He tried to box him but couldn't apply it properly so he decided to exchange, you have to do something to back the man off one way or another and movement isn't something Gatti is good at either so one way or another he will have to slug and everytime they did Baldomir got the better of him.

He boxed a couple of good fights in his careeratterson I,Leija,partially Damgaard anyway look at the 8th round,he boxed,moved,made the guy miss like 85% of his punches,won the round boxing with one hand,he could have boxed 12 rounds,only lack of focus,fatigue,broken right hand,not boxing and 2 lucky right hands made him lose,not taking anything from Baldomir
