just asking? I'm not too clear on exactly what was found in his handwraps. knuckle pads or wrapping with plaster? Or old wraps? Whats the conclusion?
Every boxer wears a knuckle pad made of gauze to protect their hands. The issue is whether there was a hardening agent placed on the gauze that would stiffen up. It was suspected that something of the sort took place because Richardson thought the padding was harder then normal and looked wet but until we find out the lab results no one will truly know the answer to that question. The CSAC's position is that Margarito bears responsibility whether he knew what was going on or not. They also mentioned that even if the test results come back negative for any type of hardening agent they won't reverse their decision because they felt that the gauze was wet which is more a technicality then anything else. Currently, neither Mosley, Roach nor Steward believes that Margo should be punished assuming there was an illegal hardening agent in the gauze. It's the trainers job to prepare the pads and wrap the hands as far as they are concerned. Whatever the result, chances are Margarito will have a long road towards redeeming himself and repairing the damage done to his reputation.
when we say gauze knuckle pads are we talking about a pre-shaped knuckle pad or does the trainer just put some gauze on the fighter's hand and then hold it there with tape?
thanks for the info I don't see why the CSAC felt the obligation to condemn Margarito before doing an analysis and figuring out what was in the gauze. And I don't see why its taking them so long to figure that **** out. Let me take that gauze back to my university and I'll figure it out in 1 day. the whole thing is fishy as hell.
Mosley is on point. He would've knocked the **** out of Margo anyways. Margo barely layed a glove on him and especially not in the 2nd half when the gloves would have hardened if there is plaster on the pads. Also, I agree with him that its probably more to protect the knuckles of Margo than add damage. Maybe Margo has more brittle hands than most people think. I mean if it can add damage to punches, then throw the book at him, but if it doesn't affect the power of the punches, then a smaller penalty is enough. and btw Shane is the man that's a great interview.
This is the longest investigation on plaster ever. They should just get a drywaller in the lab, he could tell you in a second. Or even better has the gauze gotten significantly harder since they had it? Like really they have turned this into some kind of mad scientist CSI investigation. If it is plaster are they going to end up banning him or was the decision on a one year suspension final?
Get the **** out of here that pad is still in the lab dip**** how can they rule it illegal if they dont know if there is anything illegal in it.
