If you have not seen what the Trophy looks like, you can view it here.

The Trophy is awarded to the winner is a super series event in a weight class that features 6 or 8 fighters, with most of the top ten being participants and world champions in different boxing organizations. What better way to crown a champion? If boxing can replicate this every four years per weight class, oh how rich the sport would be.

I voted yes. One division, one defined champion. If a boxer wins the Ali Trophy every fan knows you are the champion.

On a side note I'd be okay with Ward getting the trophy for his work in the super six tournament at super middle.

I think it's a great thing. But I voted "no". In the end, you can end up with any 8 fighters in the tournie. You might exclude a fighter who mows down the #2, #4 and #6 contender during the tournament who, due to circumstances, is the #1 by the end of the tournie but wasn't in it.

It's a great and beautiful thing though.

No, not yet, it could end up being though, and I think it'd be good if it did. It has to be more sought after to become the gold standard, I think that's key.

It is definitely a solid start. I love the tournament format. The Super Six established the top 168 pounder. The Ali Trophy now clearly identifies the top Cruiserweight.

I'd love more tournaments and across more weight classes. We'd have an amazing tourney at 126 and 154 right now, not to mention 147.

I said at the time Usyk should have thrown it in the bin or given it to some laymen in the crowd.

Show them all that anything to do with that religious fanatic Ali means nothing.

That trophy is more suited to someone like Ward for what it represents; which is cheating, bribing, lying and robbing opponents of a fair fight.

    I voted depends.

The cruiserweigth tournament was perfect, and if it were always like that, it would indeed be the haightest acolade in boxing.

    It can be flawed however.

For example Calum Smith got his place in the final of the super middleweight tournament, by beating a last minute substitute.

You have to question whether the winner of Groves vs Smith, would have a better claim to be the man than the Ring Champion.

There was even talk of Groves being replaced by Eubank Jr at one point, due to his injury.

If they change the design I'm onboard. It looks cool on their website, but seeing it being awarded irl that **** looked tacky, like some weird toy or sculpture a high school-er would make in art class.

it should be a massive tall cup.

unless they do a flyweight comp, in which case the cup would be bigger than the boxer, which would be silly.

elimination comps like this rightly should have a cup, as in soccer with their elimination cup comps.

But the fact that it was full on unification means that it in this case transcends the belts...which is a reflection of what ali did in real life.

Not sure GG Smith will have the same impact.

An Iconic Moment in Muhammad Ali's Career May Have Been Nothing but a Lie

Shaun Assael’s October 2016 book The Murder of Sonny Liston: Las Vegas, Heroin, and Heavyweights, the ESPN writer argues that Liston did indeed take a dive, in exchange for a piece of Ali’s future earnings.

It is based on the never-before-heard recollections of a former NAACP president in Las Vegas, who told me that he was a young man when he heard Liston drunkenly boast that he was going to get a piece of Ali’s purse with Joe Frazier in 1971 as a result of the 1965 fight.

One of Ali’s most iconic photographs, the one in which he stands over a lifeless Sonny Liston, may have been nothing but a lie all along.

Usyk needs to have separate himself from the liar, the coward, the abominable, the whoremonger and the idolater who is none other than the falsely acclaimed legend Ali

Its quite ugly but yh it could be the one to gun for in future... They should change it to a belt.

The Lonsdale belt though fought over by only the Brits is an absolute thing of beauty.

The Val Barker trophy is probably the highest accolade in amateur boxing.

Ring belt not quite what it once was is still a lovely thing.

Can you imagine having a cabinet with all those in it?
