Is The New John Ruiz The Best American Heavy (welcome, Zakman)?

Ruis was ALWAYS exciting when he knew he was fighting an overmatched opponent, and always used the hit and clinch style when the talent level of the fighters was closer. The "new" Ruiz is just the same old Ruiz.

 

At the moment, probably Calvin Brock. It's a pretty sad state of American heavies...

 

John Ruiz has always been an extremely underrated fighter. He gave Valuev a loss IMO and gave Chagaev a very tough fight despite losing.

He could definitely beat a number of top ten guys. I'd pick him to beat Maskaev and Ibragimov.

Tony Thompson (give him a decent chance of beating Ruiz)
Eddie Chambers (too unproven, but might be able to use his speed to beat Ruiz)
Lamon Brewster (seems his career is over, think Ruiz would beat him)
Hasim Rahman (lost to Ruiz already, needs to show up in good shape, then he might have a decent chance)
Calvin Brock (this is probably a pick'em fight, but I´d favor Brock in a clean fight)
Chris Arreola (too unproven to say, but Ruiz can probably beat him)
Tye Fields (what a joke)
James Toney (schooled Ruiz already, but is so out of shape at this point, he probably would lose a rematch)
Shannon Briggs (unless he´s lucky, Ruiz would just tire him and beat him)
Kevin Johnson (who?)
Mike Mollo (is he any good?)
Jameel McCline (think he might actually have a decent chance)
Ray Austin (I´d pick Ruiz over him)

So yeah, Ruiz probably beats most of the US fighters at this point.

Best American heavyweight is Chambers... followed by Arreola and your usual suspects Chazz W and Kingpin Johnson.. I do reckon the head of the (already there class of dangerous has beens includes McCline and Ruiz ) but they are close to becoming yesterdays news...... Chambers will put paid to Calvin on the second and Povetkin and Eddie will supply us with the best shootout since Tua v Ibeabuchi....... They are very proud talented ( not too big heavyweights)
