on this forum, everyone keep saying that matthysse will easly destroy garcia, making it seem like garcia is just some bum. i mean anyone with some boxing knowledge knows theres a reason why garcia is a champion.

Matthysse is just the favourite. People still think Garcia is good, that's why they are excited for this fight.

Matthysse by KO in less than 6

  4. I think Garcia takes this. Smarter fighter, if he boxes clever it's a points win or late stoppage for Garcia IMO.

Danny's superior timing I don't see questioned, some question Danny has superior boxing but not the majority. I think it may be the guys that believe Lucas is the superior boxing that got Danny getting beat easy, and they may believe Lucas is the superior boxer because they are not correctly figuring in Danny's timing. It's a factor that really can't be properly accounted for until the fight takes place and it is know whether Danny will catch Lucas rhythm, and so it may be unconsciously thrown away in their assessment since it doesn't involve the more obvious factor's such as power, speed, chin etc. If Danny does get a feel for Lucas's rhythm then it open up an almost endless possibilities in his options on how fight to Lucas.

They believe Lucas owns by far the most important factors, and think what Danny is maybe a speed factor. And it's true, all those other physical factor's and even the boxing skill could be argued but, if Danny gets Lucas timed it probably won't matter. There is an almost endless amount of possibilites you can fight your opponent once he's timed, it's an x factor like no other and because of it boxers with great timing alone are difficult to beat, and far more difficult to beat easily.

Garcia definitely had good timing, cant argue that. Ultimately I think it comes down to this; both guys are good but not great boxers. Danny may have a slight edge in overall boxing ability, but his punches tend to get very wide. Lucas definitely has the better chin, way more power, and I think he will be able to get Danny to fight his fight as opposed to the other way around. Garcia will not win a firefight, and I dont think hes gonna be able to keep Lucas off of him to fight the way he needs to win. Its going to end up as somewhat of a slugfest and Garcia will end up knocked out

Thing about this fight is i can just see Garcia getting pushed back to the ropes
He doesnt have the footspeed to circle around the ring like Judah did or Peterson did the first round

Hes gonna end up trying to fight Matthysse and not box him

Exactly, hes way too slow on his feet to avoid the inevitable brawl thats gonna break out. The only way I can see this fight going is working its way into Lucas' hands, and Garcia getting stopped. Peterson tried to box for one round before Lucas caught up to him and made him fight. We saw what happened there

Of course there is ,the one thing we don't know is how good of a chin Matthysse has.

Garcia hasn't got the footwork to outbox Matthysse, his best bet is to plant his feet and let the big shots go as soon as Lucas starts letting his go and hope that he can time Lucas with the left hook, but by doing that he leaves himself open to be tagged by something big and possibly taken out if he can't get to Lucas first.

Impossible to see this fight going the distance and probably as early as the first round a tear up will materialize, if Garcia can't get Lucas' respect then he's in big trouble but if he can then it could get very interesting.

I fancy Lucas to win a gruelling battle after about 7 rounds, Garcia is no mug though and will roar back with the pride of a champion when hurt, I think we could see both men hit the canvas at some point, Lucas will win imo but everybody will be praising Garcia afterwards on a very brave and gutsy effort.

Or maybe, just maybe he'll land a perfect left hook and Lucas just might crumble.

THIS is why it's such a great fight, anything could happen!!

Teddy Atlas already cursed Matthysse by picking him to win the fight.

Good post. If i can get good odds on a garcia win, i might just go for it - even though lucas is still my favourite, it's much closer fightthan many people think. This is truly a 50/50 fight will very little chance of seeing 12 rounds.
