I remember when floyd called his knockout of Hatton a "check hook' in 07. I had never heard that term used before in internet message boards or at all really. The next day, everyone was using it in every post as if they had always done. People were rediculed if they didn't know what it meant lol. Well ever since Chisora claimed Haye "glassed" him, the term pops up in every single post now. Maybe i'm way off base here and it's some british slang I never heard of. Anyone else think it's weird? It seems much more natural to say he hit him with a bottle, but people loved the term so much they pretend they've always used it.
It gets used in Britain a lot. Refers to hitting someone with a bottle, or a smashed bottle, but more usually a pint glass.
I had a feeling it may be a regional thing lol. It just seemed weird to see it all over all of a sudden. Lol I stand corrected
