Is the Pianeta fight just an unmitigated flop?

    She's apparently worth 10 million.

Dont think hanging around with a fighter who is barely known in the mainstream in America is gonna get her the publicity she desires either.

I also happen to know that Wlad is straight, knew a girl who worked with him on promotions in America....definately straight. In fact, quite the ladies man apparently

How is this going down in Italy , boxing has a decent fanbase in Italy doesnt it? Just because they dont have any top level guys doesnt mean there isnt a big boxing fanbase there.

You could look at it as Botha and McCall were at least has-beens instead of never-weres like Chisora, Johnson & Cunningham. No defending Sosnowski though, that guy sucks. ;)

Botha was a decent contender FIFTEEN YEARS AGO!

Same goes for McCall who has had a crack problem.

Furys record isnt anything amazing but compared to Pianeta's, its like Cottos!

A Wlad/Scott fight would have several elements that are readily martketable. Though many might not know Scott initially, a capable build-up would make him a very recognisable character and would generate a lot of interest and buzz.

Pianeta offers nothing to work with from a promotional perspective.

I agree. Pianeta is a very quite guy and cant talk. Hell even Wladimir can speak better german than him and Pianeta lived his whole live in germany:lol:
Still Jennings, Wilder, Scott did nothing more than Pianeta to deserve a shot. Just because they are american some people here think they deserve a shot more than Pianeta.
I watched Pianeta since he was with Sauerland. I am happy that he gets a shot and I am sure he will give it all and can make a good fight. At least much better than Wach.

All those men don't have a ghost of a chance, and would get stopped. The only question would be how much distance is covered before the inevitable.

Well, except Solis. Solis has a legitimate chance if he trains hard and keeps in good shape, but how likely is that to happen? Likewise, he may be able to see the final bell, but he's the only guy out of the bunch, who, in my opinion, has even a slight chance to win and survive. So, yeah, that isn't saying much.

Let Scott, Wilder, Fury, and Pulev develop more before/if they fight Wladimir. These are all "stars in the making" within the modern heavyweight frame of reference. I see no reason to rush fights with guys who will yield more reward in the end, especially as Wladimir gets older and has to go through greater hoops to show his triumph; or even to get the job done. I don't fancy that adding tons of wet-behind-the-ears greenies, no matter how talented or touted, would add much to Wladimir's legacy.

Remember: Pianeta is undefeated, but he is unknown. Likewise, who outside of ESB really knows of the others, perhaps bar Solis? I think Pianeta is a good stay busy fight (pardon the cliche, gents). And if he can finally lure Povetkin into the ring come fall, that would be splendid. Thing is, Povetkin's shine has largely diminished since he is inconsistent whereas Wladimir's best trait is consistency (whether or not that includes longevity is to be seen, especially without Steward).

    Meh.

  12. That's a lie. You were never at the Grant-Lewis camp so you didn't know about the incidents that happened with Wlad there who fought on the under card.

Full details were not revealed.. but it's fact that a very big and tall black guy with dreadlocks flew out of Wlad's room with only a robe on around 2 am and Wlad was screaming all sorts of profanities. So explain that.

Everyone at the camp knew it.. so explain why will a black dude with a robe run out of Wladimir's room at 2 am..... that makes no sense.

Is Wladimir straight now? I know he is.

But did he take black cocks PRIOR to 2006? Yes he did.

This is because YDKSAB. Pianeta was european champ and he did beat a few solid journeymen.
