Circa 2005-6, the Golden Age, Pride & UFC, etc. Circa 2010-11, the New Age, UFC/Strikeforce, etc. Many things have changed, but has the ratio of KOs to submissions to points wins? ie: are there more KOs now, or more subs, or more points wins? Are there much less of one of these methods of victory as compared to 5-6 years ago? Thoughts? :bbb
I have a good size collection of MMA, but my most recent stuff starts around 2007. If anything, I have noticed more fights going the distance.. Mixed Martial Artists are continiously evolving, and most recognizable active fighters have stepped their game up over the past few years. Fights nowadays are more competitive than ever, so I'm certain that the number of decisions has gone up, while one strike KOs/TKOs is rising ever so slightly. In the mid 90s.. Submissions occured most often.
Two words: Greg Jackson. MMA was far more exciting during the PRIDE hey day. The rules demanded exciting fights. Not this LnP wall and stall bull****.
Someone actually broke down the stats for finishes vs. decisions in the UFC for the past decade on the UG a few months ago. I'll see if I can find that thread.

To be fair, steroids and endless amounts of HGH were also routine in Pride. You had a lot of jacked up, angry, testosterone-laden super men going out there and kicking the **** out of each other with laxer rules. Don't get me wrong. I love Pride and it was entertaining as all hell. I miss it dearly. But North American mixed martial arts can never be Japanese MMA.
Wow, that's quite a crew I hope they all don't get too close and pulll the "i don't fight friends" thing going on.
