Probably less offensive than "fan-boy". Johnson isn't a favourite of mine btw,I find his style boring.
I've replied to the chief Rockista via pm,so as not to pollute my thread with his irrational responses about me that don't have anything to do with the subject of the thread.

Yes, in my opinion it was.

Rex Layne was a very good contender, who should have been a bad stylistic match up for Marciano on paper.

Walcott and Charles were going life and death with this guy, but Rocky just took him apart.

Makes you wonder why Walcott held him so cheaply?

Sounds cool, let’s go with that.

What do we call the obsessive Marciano haters such as Black Hercules?

They are a subset that has deserved a name for some time!

    Great thread, how about laynistas
Yes you have I appreciate the time you took to pm me quite a few times. Everything I respond to is what you have posted. Now back to the thread, Yes I agree that it was Rocky's best performance. He fought a tough up and comer and destroyed him. Give the beefy Layne credit he withstood the thudding punches of one of the hardest punchers in Satterfield and the tough boxing of JJW. It was a good win over a ranked opponent.
There are some who say Rocky was lucky that he came up when he did, I believe boxing is lucky he came up when he did, post WWII he brought excitement to boxing and raised an icon.
