This. The way boxing works, is if the judges say one fighter wins, then he wins. The fight you are referring to was close. I had Manny winning and so did a lot of other people. The ring doesn't have nonsense mandatories and sactioning fees and it shouldnt. I didn't say The Ring was perfect, but if we compare it to the ABC titles, then there is really no comparison. It would be worse for boxing if The Ring stood up and said, "in this very close fight, most of our writers felt that Marquez won. So, f*ck the judges and Manny Pacquiao. Marquez is the winner." Then we could say, ok Ring, no more judges. Just your writers. And that would be the end of the Ring's credibilty. P.S.: this message is to divac.
Nope, that would not have been the case for Marquez-Pac, as every poll in every boxing forum in the world had Marquez beating Pacquiao......the majority of boxiing writers had Marquez beating Pacquiao......the Pinoy broadcast team had Marquez beating Pacquiao......having said that, had Ring magazine rated Marquez over Pacquiao at 130 lbs, nobody but the *******s would have complained about it.....and thats a fact! PS. this message is to Abdullah!
Juan Diaz got exposed as somewhat a non-elite fighter. A B-level fighter in the form of Malignaggi beat him twice.
Campbell was the other champion at the time having taken the title form Juan Diaz...... .....by the time Marquez knocked out Diaz, Campbell had already fought Ali Funeka and looked like complete ****. ......but theoretically either JMM or Nate Campbell could have been ranked number 1 at lightweight at that time. .....I believe Marquez was the right choice because he beat Diaz more emphatically than Campbell did, and the fact that Campbell looked like crap against Funeka did'nt help matters for him. .....but certainly Campbell deserved the nod as being ranked the best lightweight before his fight with Funeka took place......... ......after his fight with Funeka, and then right where JMM knocked out Juan Diaz in emphatic fashion, I think JMM deserved right then to be ranked as the best lightweight.
The Malignaggi fights took place after the Campbell fights and then geting KTFO by Marquez....... We are briefly debating who should have been ranked the best lightweight at the time of Marquez' reign there. Certainly Juan Diaz may have not been the same fighter after such an emphatic KO loss and fighting at a weight class above the lightweight limit against Malignaggi.
I look at it like this: Do I care who has the "title" in this fight? Do the rankings matter to me after this fight is over?
Thats a poll created by *******s 6 months after the fight happened........of course if you were to create a poll now, Pacquiao wins it going away as it now only becomes a popularity contest........ The further away removed from the fight, the more the poll tilts toward Pac as the winner, as it become a popularity contest full of *******s chiming in like vultures to vote. ......and you know I'm telling the truth PH|LLA, back when polls started creating Pac winnning these polls, I challenged every ******* in this forum to go back to the archives of any boxing forum in the internet and find me just one, just one ****ing poll that dated back to March 2008 when the fight happened that depicted Pacquiao winning the poll.......and not a single ******* was able to find such a poll........ I still challenge you to find me a poll that dates back that far that had Pac winning??? These *******s could'nt even find such poll at Pacland!:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl The polls now are no good my friend, as it now only becomes a popularity contest......... There was a poll in the Classic forum way back then that had Marquez winning it by well over 60% of the votes.....and in that same thread were links to other websites from different countries like China and Russia......a Russian boxing poll link put up had Marquez being the winner of it like 81% to 19%.....:yep Who did the Pinoy broadcast team have winning PH|LLA???:rofl:rofl:rofl
Divac..you're a good poster, but you focus too much on *******s...affecting your quality dude. We need all the goods we can get. :thumbsup
Thanks PHlLLA! How on earth did you manage to find a poll that had Pacquiao winning? Haha. Divac is a devoted youngster, I'll say that about him. P.S.: I VOTED FOR PAC!!!
i don't think the ring title or any other deserve too much credibility. boxing is so fragmented that there will always be something out of synch, no matter how well intentioned. persoanlly, i think the best way to gauge a legit champion is your own common sense.
ESB has probably the biggest concentration of *******s since Pacland And he still barely manages to win that poll.
The mission at the moment is to verbalize what anyone with common sense should know right now...... There are too many posters on this forum on Pacquiao's side because he's more likeable then Mayweather. I intend to offset that type of popularity favoritism and point out what the facts are.........that everything done and said by Pacquiao and his whole team reeks that they're hiding the fact that Pacquiao is a juicer. Admit it Uppercut, that whole Pacquiao team has done nothing but embarass themselves everytime they've opened their mouth.........that cannot go unpenalized! There should be more posters in every boxing forum putting the pressure on Pacquiao after all their contradictory statements, to come clean and legitly test for PED's.......... .......its my belief that Pacquiao has alot of company as far as fighters out there on PED's......its time the sport comes clean, and we can start by bringing down the fighters at the top and making them take leget random drug tests!!!!:deal Nothing will stop me from verbalizing what I feel needs to be changed in boxing!
