Well, they offered Cotto 15 million with PPV upside that paid Cotto nealry 30 million dollars while Canelo was willing to accept 5 million in order to secure the fight with Cotto.

Canelo-GGG is not guaranteed to do as much nor is GGG more popular than Cotto.

15 million for ggg is beyond fair.

Not an accountant but the point was that its never in a million years a genuine offer. Complete bull**** propaganda.

Terrible example? Like using their age? You didn't even use any proper context FFS. Comparing when Pac beat MAB to when 3G won his title? What relevance does that have to do with what we're discussing? Like, none at all?

Fact of the matter is, 3G didn't get his push from HBO until the last few years. Pac had guys in a few divisions willing to face him. Your hero dumped his only world title rather then face 3G. Sort of a big difference.

You talk like boxing works like a video game FFS.

If it was BS then K2 would make a lot of noise instead of them coming across as Gggreedy and unreasonable.

Once GGG beats Saunders in June this whole thing is irrelevant. All roads go through GGG at that point. Canelo still has to fight a 190 pound Chavez.

    Stupid example really.

Golovkin picked up his MW title at 27, by 29 HBO was full on board with the hype. 6 years later Golovkin is barely selling 100k ppvs.

Pacquiao was 25 when he got the full HBO backing and capitalized by fighting some of the best opposition regardless of weight and as a result people tuned in to see who this man who was taking on all comers was by the million$. Ggg on the other hand, despite being a small MW who "could make 154 but KO heavyweights" or LtHWs beitched about weight and money and lost the opportunity to be great when he rejected Ward and Canelo's offers.

Golovkin had Canelo and Ward, but the weight wasn't perfect and the money wasn't perfect.

Casuals are not the most informed but they aren't stupid either. They're not going to throw their money at fighters who don't give them the fights they want.

Good lord.... after "watching" boxing for ten + years, you still don't get it. When Manny Pac got his fame and big push means nothing in regards to 3Gm, for the simple fact that everyone DOES NOT follow the same course.

And it doesn't change the fact that 3G got his big push just a few years ago. Go away loser...I can't waste time discussing things with nitwits who are too clueless to understand.

This fight is already diminishing in my eyes, I for one don't care if it happens or not. After the way both camps have played the fans we shouldn't support crap like this anymore.

I think it is overestimated. I'm betting it does around 500-600k. Won't crack 900k.

If Golovkin is the B-side, nothing suggests he should get $15m PLUS PPV. This fight won't sell enough.

I've never seen that number confirmed by anybody in the GGG camp. Are we supposed to just take Oscar's word for it? LOL:lupie:

To be fair, Pacman is more of the exception than the rule. But, he did what it took to capture the public imagination in the US and abroad. He climbed multiple weight divisions and became a P4P star because he was super talented and willing to take risks. So, yes, GGG is at a disadvantage because he is from Khazakstan, but it is up to him to do the things that will make him an undeniable draw in the public eye.
