Is the supposed fight realism in MMA a burden rather than a benefit.

MMA seems to have a rather joyless attitude about it. It can't just be an entertaining sport with rules to encourage longer more evenly balanced fights. It has to be "real fighting" no matter how dull, how boring how quick and how random the outcome of the fight.

There needs to be some serious healing, no one needs to feel embarrassed about professional wrestling it's for kids, it's popular and fun I loved it once.

But to have a sport created purely out of the embarrassment about a pretend sport shows a bit of insecurity, don't you think.

MMA is NOT supposed to simulate real fighting. It's supposed to simulate a combat sport where you can use every part of your body. There is a difference between the two. :nod

ummmmmm Have you seen any boxing matches lately??? I mean boxing is a great sport but man there are way more dull moments than in MMA.

I assume your referring to the ground aspect. If you understand wrestling and Jiu Jitsu or any other ground sport you would find the sport of MMA more exciting. I find in general MMA fighter lay it on the line much more than boxers.

From me my personal statistic is of all the boxing I've ever watched 40% have been total, maximum entertainment. The remaining 60% can range from dull fights, quick knockouts, to quite enjoyable fights that are maybe a bit one-sided.

You're quite right if I was studying jujitsu myself all learnt a bit more about it I would probably get more out of the ground game. But don't you think it's a bit "ever so worthy" or Emperor's new Clothes. i.e. there's something wrong with me if I don't appreciate MMA enough.

Absolutely nothing wrong if you don't like it. But why come in too a MMA section of a forum and slag on it? I know you didn't really say anything too negative but whats the point?

I mean they're fighting to keep their apartment. Boxers fight for either a Ferrari or god forbid they lose they'll have to settle for a Porsche.
