Junior Jones beat Barrera twice, Hagler beat Hearns, Hearns beat Duran, Duran beat Leonard, Leonard beat Hearns, Cotto beat Mosley, Bowe beat Holyfield and and the list goes on. Even some guy named Jake Thadzi beat James Toney. Beating a fighter does not automatically make you greater or better than them. That's even more true when one of the fighters has a size advantage on the other
Because calling out doesn't mean ****. Why do you guys think it's such an important part of making a fight? Boxers get called out ALL the time. By multiple fighters...who call out multiple fighters themselves. And do you recall what happened when Floyd called out Winky? Take a stab at it.
It's not just that He called him out, he said he attempted negotiations, which shane never denied. And shane also dodged questions about a mayweather bout just like Pacman did post-cotto..
ATG cherry picker (j/k, before you flame me Floyd fans, read the rest of my post).. He is a great fighter with a great amateur Pedigree highlighted by his Bronze medal at the '96 olympics. His pro career started great all the way to his championship wins as SFW and LW. Had 3 good but not so great wins at JWW followed by his current cherry picking stint at WW. He just doesn't want to face the toughest opposition and has so many excuses to not make fights happen. He isn't an ATG yet. I don't think anyone views him as an ATG except for Floyd fans.
What exactly is 'attempted negotiations'? But you know Winky ACCEPTED right? Then Floyd balked. So much for a call out...
Ok i'll let Shane demonstrate since you seem to focusing on the least competitive/relevant part of my argument. Second interview: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPJhvYXKZK8[/ame]
Wow...full of yourself much? atsch And I was asking for a reason...since I hadn't heard this so called "non-denial". Nice work with the broken link BTW. *nice...you fixed it.
"Next year will be a perfect opportunity for me to step in the ring with Floyd" - Shane He fought Vargas twice in 06 so no way could he fight Floyd and be ready for him in 06. In 07 DLH MAYBE repeating MAYBE made Shane step down so the DLH-May fight could happen.
For me, that's close to the crux of the issue. I want to see the young, hungry, gracious, & smiling PBF; the PBF who fought JLC twice (I know, I know about dissenting opinions on his fights w/ JLC). I want to see the PBF who demolished Manfredy, picked apart Corrales, stepped up to DLH, & gestured @ Zab Judah to come to him & try to bring it. I want to see the young PBF who was just happy to be in the positions he was achieving. What I don't want is to hear more about how his upcoming opponents are overrated trash. I don't want to see him belittling his sparring partners, cataloguing his "walking around money" & jewels, inconsistently presenting a "good guy"/People's Champ persona, & pandering to homeland patriotism. I don't want to see him take personal offense every time any1 speaking with him compliments a different boxer. I don't want to hear him say things like: "And who made more money? Now what?" I don't want to see him refuse magazine interviews without a guaranteed cover shot. I don't want to see his latest Apollo Creed impression. I don't want to see him blame the negative backlash of his abrasive behavior on racism. In short: I want to see him throw away his insecurities. Even more concise: I want to see him act his age. I'd like to see the PBF who (IMO) is a generally & genuinely good guy; the man he seems to be when crowds & the media aren't around. I understand his hiatus from the sport. He was at it practically non-stop since a toddler. Now that he's back, I'd like to see him face all the top fighters in whatever division he wants to be, without mention of his 0 & their losses; without mention of his myriad strengths & their obvious weaknesses. To paraphrase Hatton from their 24/7: "Yeah, you're great. You're great, Floyd. We all know this. Now let's play another record..." I want to see him forget about his 0, his possessions, and his legacy. I want to see him forget about how great he is & just BE great; just out there doing what he does best. IMO, Floyd's clearly the superior boxer, but guys like Hatton & Pacquiao are the superior star personalities. So, in a way, you're right about the universality of opinion: Who doesn't want to see a favorite, active, ATG superstar improve & increase his positive attributes & eliminate all of the negative, narcissistic, adolescent posturing?
not really....i mean if you actually compare their accomplishments both are very close in every aspect.....
