He's Kovalev's mandatory so I think he'd expect a similar payday to a Kovalev challenger's. 300K should be fine in that case.
He should walk at 300k. Assuming Andre gets his usual 2 million payday, that's less than 15% of the purse to travel to Oakland. A fighter with options doesn't need to take a deal like that.
Barrera is with Main Events like Kovalev, no? Based on what Duva has been saying for some time, I don't think she seems the least bit interested in Kovalev-Barrera (or if she is, I confess to having never heard of it). It seems that Duva prefers Kovalev vs Ward and Stevenson, if she can somehow muster it.
thats about 11% of the purse, isnt it? never mind, for some reason i thought andre was geting 2.5 million.
So you think he'd make more than that sum against Kovalev? Is there evidence that Duva is even the least bit interested in Kovalev-Barrera? :smoke
He's with main events, correct. But I don't see many options for him out there. He can't fight in Canada so Stevenson fight is out of question and I don't think him or Braehmer would be willing to give him a shot. Either he'll wait for Kovalev or take the offer from RocNation.
Look at the "other" forum for more info, didn't Smith get 275k or something like that? And it's said that he's made around that before but maybe not anything as high. Even still, I'd feel a bit lowballed by that.
Mohammedi made 270k to Kovalev's 750k when they fought as a mandatory. Why should Sullivan fight for 300k to Ward's 2 million and travel to Oakland for it? If Ward - Kovalev falls through, Kovalev - Barrera gets made. You never answered my question from the other thread. What's the right payoff and split for Barrera in your book? Numbers.
It appears Ward vs Barrera is now off. According to Boxrec, Ward is still scheduled to fight on March 26 -- oppenent TBA. The question is, with ten-and-a-half weeks to go until his next scheduled outing, can Ward and his people close the deal and get a guy who will be a solid test for Ward at 175?
Is it? Damn.. Oh well, not like that's any surprise at all. Barrera posted a picture of Ward and Jay Z "shopping" for Periban at 75% discount, could be a rumoured opponent.
Doing a little shopping in the January sales. I gather Periban -- a Super Middleweight -- has been in the running to land this fight for some time now. He has shown a willingness to go on the road, having travelled to fight Sakio Bika, J'Leon Love, Badou Jack, and James De Gale. With this in mind, I now expect Periban to take the payday and oppose Ward on March 26 -- possibly at a 172 catchweight. A step down from Barrera, to be honest.
No worries, Cafe. I'm not sure what Smith got for either of the Abraham fights: I'm assuming the Ward fight was his biggest payday.
